Alex Bowman Eyes All-Star Payday With Dover Momentum on His Side
With the NASCAR All-Star race right around the corner, Alex Bowman has his eyes on the prize. Coming to what he considers one of his better tracks, Bowman wants to end his winless streak that began in July 2024 and take home the $1 million prize.
Bowman has been having a tough season so far. Before getting sidelined and missing four races due to his vertigo symptoms, Bowman had three disappointing races to start the season. Because of the unfortunate series of events, he missed out on crucial points and is currently 34th in the standings.
But with the All-Star race coming up at Dover Motor Speedway, he is looking forward to turning his luck around. During his recent appearance on PRN's Garage Pass podcast, the Hendrick Motorsports driver talked about the event, saying:
"I love Dover; Dover is probably my favorite race track. Obviously, statistically, we are really good there. We have only won once, but we have been capable of winning probably five or six of those things. So yeah, I really enjoy racing there and am excited to get there."
In his previous outings at Dover, Alex Bowman won once in 2021 after taking the lead of the race off the pit road, and leading the last 97 laps of the 400-lap race. In three subsequent outings, the No. 48 Chevrolet driver has finished in the Top five twice, including a podium in 2025.
The track has been a happy hunting ground for Bowman, and it will be interesting to see if he can utilize the momentum to win the non-points paying All-Star race.
Alex Bowman opens up about one superstition with his Dover trophy
Many NASCAR drivers, like many other professional athletes, have certain superstitions when it comes to race weekends. Over the years, many of the drivers have had their own superstitions.
For Dale Earnhardt, it was not leaving a building out the same door he walked in, and for Davey Allison, the superstition involved watching a movie before a race weeken. If he ran well that weekend, he would watch the same movie the next weekend.
For Alex Bowman, the superstition involves trophies, including the "Miles the Monster" trophy he won at Dover in 2021. Speaking about that lore during the PRN interview, he said:
"So we had people come into the shop and say that the trophies on the floor were bad luck, and then they showed up later with tables to put the trophies on. We managed to run the worst we have ever run with the tables and the trophies on the tables. So we have since got rid of the tables, and the trophy’s back on the floor. And magically, we ran better."
Coincidence or not, it does not seem like Alex Bowman is interested in testing the superstition again. He enters the All-Star race weekend with two back-to-back podiums at Talladega and Texas, followed by a 25th place finish at Watkins Glen.
