Amazon Prime Labelled Better Than FOX as Fans Pour in Support for the NASCAR Broadcaster
Amazon Prime seems to have set a standard for NASCAR race broadcasters like NBC and FOX Sports. The broadcasting of the Nashville race marked their second race in the schedule and so far has been well received by the fans.
The viewership statistics are yet to be out, but the good chatter about the broadcast has taken the social media platform by storm. The NASCAR driver Garrett Smithley praised Amazon Prime's broadcast on X.
“I cannot overstate how good NASCAR on @PrimeVideo is," he wrote.
Multiple fans began talking about their experience of streaming the race via Prime in the comments section of the post.
Fox began broadcasting NASCAR during the fateful 2001 Daytona 500. Since then, they have telecast all of NASCAR’s races until Amazon Prime signed a deal with the sanctioning body last year.
However, since then, the comparison in broadcasting between the two companies has begun. Many of the fans pointed out how clean and well-organized the broadcast was as compared to Fox’s abrupt cuts to advertisements.
The broadcaster returned for its second season of NASCAR broadcasts. They began broadcasting their scheduled Cup Series races for this season since the Coca-Cola 600 last week. It was well received among the fans, as the viewership skyrocketed to 3.06 million, with its peak coming in at 3.37 million viewers between 9:15 and 9:30.
Fans Weigh In About Amazon Prime’s Broadcast of the Race at Nashville
Under the posts, several of the fans gave their opinions on the broadcast, as one wrote, “ Green flag pit stop cycling order is top f****** notch.”
While another fan hoped that the broadcaster would take over FOX for all of the races in the upcoming years. “This is the correct viewing experience and will hopefully be the main sooner than later”
Yet another fan compared the two broadcasters based on what FOX would end up showing them during the caution. “They spent almost an entire caution giving us garage shots of Ross Chastain’s team working on their car. Fox would have spent that entire time showing commercials.”
Another fan echoed a similar sentiment about Prime taking up the fan’s feedback. “It's crazy how good their feedback loop is Last week they got criticized for not showing some of the mid-pack battles and this week, they didn't even miss 1 battle. They knocked it out of the park when Letarte explained the rotor issue with Prime showing the repairs in real time.”
Another fan took to their social media, stating how Amazon Prime made NASCAR feel like a big deal once again. "I think what sticks out most to me with NASCAR on Prime is that it makes NASCAR feel like a big deal FOX and NBC treat NASCAR like an afterthought. Prime gives NASCAR the same love they do NBA and NFL, and the drivers feel like famous athletes appearing in commercials for big brands.”
Amazon Prime has yet another three races left, which include the Naval Base Coronado in San Diego. What did you think about Amazon Prime’s broadcast? Let us know in the comments.
