Following the conflict in the Middle East between Iran and the US, the oil prices have hiked up. This hike has caused a lot of distress in households across the US. However, a rewards program by Joey Logano's major sponsor, Shell, curated for NASCAR race days, has come to the rescue.

Prior to the conflict beginning, the Team Penske driver, in collaboration with Shell, announced a promotion called ‘Race Day Rewards' on their app in February. According to the advertisement, users could save 22 cents per gallon of gas on all grades of Shell gas if they fill up on race day. 

The campaign could not have come at a more appropriate time. Shortly after the campaign was announced, the U.S-Iran conflict intensified, hiking up the oil prices across America. According to Sports Business Journal, at the time when the campaign was introduced in February, the gas prices were at $2.90 per gallon. But since then, the prices have hiked over 40% to $4.02 per gallon, according to AAA.

This has led to Shell seeing a record-breaking number of signups for their app. According to Shell, 395,136 users have signed up, and the offer has been redeemed 489,181 times.  The app also recorded 40,000 new opt-ins in the last week. The company further disclosed that they reached high up in the iPhone App Store rankings.

In March, the company broke its own record as the number of active app users grew by 179,000 compared to February. Along with this, the user engagement has also seen a spike by 30%. So far, the campaign has been a success for Shell, which, through its 13-year-long and ongoing partnership with Joey Logano, struck oil with the campaign.

Unfortunately, on the on-track performance side, the same cannot be said about Joey Logano's 2026 season.

The #22 Team Penske driver has had a slow start to his season. In nine races, he has struggled to find consistent results and has only two Top 10 finishes. With the new chase format, this lack of consistency could prevent the three-time Cup champion from making it to the playoffs.

Amidst this rut, Joey Logano remains confident about the season ahead. During his appearance on the Todd Gordon show before the Kansas weekend, Joey Logano explained how he could make up for lost ground. 

"If you have a solid race where you can score 40 plus points, top five all day long, right?" Logano began. "And let’s say the No. 9 (Chase Eliott), not wishing bad luck on anybody here, let’s say he had a rack, or something went wrong, and he scored one or two, three points. All of a sudden, you’ve jumped that car that's 5th from 12th."

Logano was 12th in the standings heading into Kansas, and after a 30th-place finish, dropped down to 14th.
