RFK Racing has not had a great outing in the last few years, but with the Gen 7 car, the team has managed to make some noise with six wins. Co-owner Brad Keselowski is thrilled with the growth, but he is also aware of the reality as well.

In an interaction with Fanbuzz, the 42-year-old driver said that while the team has certainly made progress, it isn’t quite at that level just yet. However, he remains optimistic, especially in light of their recent performances.

“I'm really pleased at that (progress), but ultimately, to be judged as successful in this sport, you have to win, and you have to win and be a contender to win regularly," said Keselowski. "I sense that we're not far off from that, but we're also not there.

While there are dominant teams like 23XI and Joe Gibbs, who grab the headlines, Keselowski feels like RFK is somewhere in between.

"We're somewhere in this ambiguous spot between the two. I'm hopeful that we can push through with some kind of stellar performance here early in the season and kind of assert ourselves in that way," said Keselowski. "We were close last week. This weekend will be another one of those opportunities that I feel really good about."

The team has seen a turnaround of sorts in the current season. It began with Ryan Preece’s victory at The Clash exhibition, followed by the performance in Las Vegas, where the team recovered dramatically after a disastrous practice session.

Then in Darlington, RFK Racing came very close to registering its first win of the season, with Keselowski leading 142 laps and winning two stages. It seemed like RFK would secure the first two positions, as teammate Chris Buescher was closing in on his boss in the closing laps of the second stage.

As of now, Buescher and Keselowski are in the Top 11 in the standings, giving RFK a good chance to get into the postseason.

Can RFK Celebrate Keselowski’s Milestone With A Win?

Keselowski will become the 35th driver to achieve 600 starts in the Cup Series, following former teammate Joey Logano, who achieved this milestone last year. If he wins at Martinsville, he will join Richard Petty as the second Cup Series driver to register a win in his 600th race.

His recent performance in Darlington, along with his record in Martinsville, suggests he might finally register his first win of the season. After all, he won two Cup Series races in 2017 and 2019, and he has also led 1,068 laps there. Of his current 599 Cup Series starts, 32 have come at Martinsville.

Going into his 600th race, the driver insists he is nowhere close to stopping just yet, and he wants to push for 800.
