Brad Keselowski and RFK Racing are hunting for a third charter, but there are no sellers currently. RFK Racing, one of the oldest Cup Series teams, has two full-time charters and one leased charter from Rick Ware Racing to support Ryan Preece in the No. 60. Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Keselowski recently mentioned how the team is actively seeking a third charter for the 2027 season.

"As it stands today, there's no charters that I'm aware of that are for sale," Keselowski said. "If there was, we've certainly talked to everybody that we think could potentially sell one, and they know our interest. We'll have to see. Like you said, it is still May. We really don't need a charter until February of 27."

As of the 2026 season, there are 36 charters in the NASCAR Cup Series, which guarantees every team that holds a charter entry into the point-paying race. This helps them have financial stability and a guaranteed portion of the purse.

"That said, we really need a charter, and we know that. What we can't control is, you know, there's a finite amount of them. They're not making more charters, so we can't control the fact that somebody has to be willing to sell it first. So we'll just have to let the cards play out," he further added.

With the 36 charters, there are 36 permanent cars, along with four open spots. Following a dispute in 2025, NASCAR made all the charters that existed in the sport permanent. This increased the cost of each charter, which now costs around $30-35 million, as per reports.

As a result of this and due to the non-availability of charters, Roush Fenway Keselowski has decided to remain a three-car team in 2027.

RFK to remain with three cars in 2027

Brad Keselowski revealed that the team plans to remain a three-car team for the upcoming Cup Series season. Praising the third team, and his plans, here's what the #6 driver said:

"We have a third team we’re really proud of the performance Ryan has shown,” Keselowski said. “It’s out intent to keep racing it (third team) for a long, long time. We’re still working through what the options are to make that happen.”

Preece had the best start to the year, winning the inaugural Bowman Gray race, which was his major NASCAR achievement.

Currently, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Preece and Chris Buescher run three cars, the #6, the #60 and the #17 numbers, respectively. Corey Lajoie runs the #99 car under part-time obligation.
