Brad Keselowski Rues Decision That Slipped Away Strong Finish in Texas
Brad Keselowski was an unhappy man after Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. He admitted he 'made the wrong call' mid-race, a strategy error that stole a potential top-10 finish (or a top-5) finish for the RFK Racing co-owner.
Taking to his official X account, Keselowski responded to a fan's post, who had tweeted, "Love RFK but can’t believe the call by Brad. Hate the call by Preece, too, but I somewhat understand their position. Brad stayed out from the 3rd. And finished 3rd. Just to throw the race. Completely insane."
Quote-tweeting this post, Keselowski responded, "I made the wrong call trying to make more of our race, and it took us from a top-10 to a 13th-place day. Not sure what else to say. Always wanting more."
Notably, Keselowski was strong throughout the race. After finishing 26th in Stage 1, he, along with his fellow RFK driver Ryan Preece, strategically chose not to pit in Stage 2.
Though he finished third in the second stage, the decision cost him in the final one as he ended up 13th after race winner Chase Elliott and 23XI Racing's Tyler Reddick passed him on fresher tires.
His teammates, Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece, finished the race in fifth and 14th place, respectively. Despite having three charters, RFK Racing has not been performing consistently, and amid this, Keselowski spoke about adding one more.
Brad Keselowski wants NASCAR charter for RFK
Brad Keselowski, the driver and co-owner of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, recently shared his thoughts on adding a charter to his team. Speaking to the media about it, the No. 6 RFK man said:
"As it stands today, there are no charters that I’m aware of that are for sale. If there was, we’d certainly talk to everyone we’d think could potentially sell one, and they know our interest. We’ll have to see. It’s still May. We really don’t need a charter until February of ’27. With that said, we really need a charter, and we know that."
“What we can’t control is that there is a finite amount of them; they’re not making more charters, so we can’t control the fact that somebody has to be willing to sell it first. So, we have to let the cards play out," he further added.
Currently, RFK has three full-time charters for Brad Keselowski, Ryan Preece, and Chris Buescher, and one part-time charter for Corey LaJoie.
