One of the most chaotic finishes in recent memory came at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Even four years later, the most "out-of-a-movie" wins for Kyle Busch is a memory fans of 'Rowdy' cherish. While the famous Dirt Speedway has been replaced by concrete since 2024, the memory of Busch winning on Bristol Dirt Speedway in 2022, in a last-lap filled with confusion and chaos, remains.

Undoubtedly, the most interesting part of this iconic race was the dominance that Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe had the entire time until the very end. However, a desperate move from the latter in the last lap caused both of the leading cars to spin.

Kyle Busch, who was running 3rd at that time, took the opportunity and drove past the finishing line.

“Yeah, we got one,” Busch said after the unexpected win, as the Bristol crowd was busy booing at him. “Doesn’t matter how you get ’em. It’s all about getting ’em. Can’t say enough. I mean, man, I feel like Dale Earnhardt Sr. right now. This is awesome. I didn’t do anything.”

Despite the crowd's reaction at that time, this win was representative of the day. The visibility on the track was limited, and there were constant problems throughout the race. This meant Busch struggled to find speed early on. His car was not firing off correctly on the restarts, and he fell back to third when Briscoe passed him with less than twenty laps to go.

When the white flag came up, Busch was over two seconds behind the leaders with no win in sight. It was the collision on the final corners that gave him the chance he was looking for to sneak past the finish line just 0.330 seconds ahead.

Reddick and Briscoe Showed True Class After the Final Lap Collision

While most fans expected a heated confrontation after such a collision, Reddick and Briscoe handled their heartbreak with utmost respect.

"I was running Tyler down and tried throwing a slider and didn’t expect him to drive in there on me, and I got loose," said Briscoe after the race. "That was my fault 100 percent. I hate it for Tyler. He’s a good friend of mine."

Reddick, who was yet to secure his first win in the Cup Series, was graceful and did not make a huge deal out of what had happened.

“I mean, you’re racing on dirt, going for the move on the final corner. It’s everything that, as a driver, you hope to battle for in his situation. Made it really exciting for the fans, so… It does suck, but we were able to finish second still," said Reddick. "I’m being honest. I should have done a better job and pulled away so he wasn’t in range to try to make that move. That’s how I look at it.”

After the chaotic finish, a lot of question marks were raised about the race and the viability of continuing the race every year. It was discontinued after discussions, but it is clear that if reintroduced, fans will be in for an experience like no other.
