The Carson Hocevar show continues in Texas. Just a week after winning his first Cup race at Talladega, Hocevar won his first Truck race of 2026 at Texas, ending his Spire teammate Kyle Busch's streak of four wins.

Hocevar’s win came after a late caution sent the race into overtime, as he had better traction than Gio Ruggiero. Hocevar raced past the finish line,  0.730 seconds ahead of his teammate Kyle Busch.

Busch, who holds the record for the most wins in the Truck Series with 68, boasted a solid six-win record in Texas with his last four Truck appearances at Texas Motor Speedway ending in four consecutive wins. 

A few weeks before the race, Kyle Busch spoke to Sean Hannity and was asked who made his hate list. Busch responded that he doesn’t see eye to eye with Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, and Carson Hocevar. 

Whether Hocevar took offence to the comment and then used that as an added boost, we won’t know, but the #77 driver for Spire Motorsports definitely enjoyed breaking Rowdy's streak:

“Ah man, what a fun race. We had to reverse order. Obviously, the one-two with Kyle. I watched him win a lot of truck races, and it’s finally good to put an end to his Texas streak,” said Hocevar after the race.

Hocevar, who won his first Truck race in Texas all the way back in  2023 with Neice Motorsports, racked up his sixth career Truck race win. This was also Hocevar’s second win with Spire Motorsports, following up his Truck victory in Kansas last year. 

Hocevar on the late restart

The 23-year-old, who drives the No. 77 for Spire Motorsports in both the Truck and Cup series, can now boast of winning for the team in both competitions. With a total of 1 Cup and 2 Truck wins, he has boosted his resume amidst comparisons with Dale Earnhardt’s ‘Intimidator’ driving style. 

Busch may have said he doesn’t see eye to eye with Hocevar, who didn’t let the opportunity go when given the chance to make a snarky comment. Hocevar was asked what the difference was at the end during the late restart and overtime. 

His response was, “The c**** answer would be the difference is what’s in the seat. But we were really, really good on restarts.”

Hocevar also praised his Spire team and expressed his happiness to get the 1-2 for the team. 

“These guys do a really good job. It’s been a struggle on the truck side, but so thankful to get it done here….Great to do it though with Spire and Jeff(co-owner) to get a one-two.”

Hocevar hopes to carry his form from the truck back into the Cup car, hoping to add another strong finish after his first Cup win less than a week ago.
