Since the announcement of the format change for the All-Star race, drivers and fans alike have raised questions about it. The most recent driver to voice his opinion about the issue is Carson Hocevar. 

When NASCAR announced the new format, it lacked the All-Star Open, which had helped drivers who missed out on qualifying for the race. However, this has now been replaced with the three segments. According to it, all 36 drivers will compete in the first two segments of the race. In the third segment, which is 200 laps, the grid will be narrowed down to 26 drivers. 

During his media availability ahead of the All-Star Race at Dover, Hocevar proposed an Australian pursuit-style format. Here, the fastest qualifying driver will have to start last. The last car gets eliminated every few laps. “You have the whole field. If you get passed, you’re done.” 

He further added, "We did that at Kalamazoo Speedway, and it was maybe one of the most fun races I’ve watched. Or they had to do like a drive-through and get to come back out, and they’re well behind and everything.

"And I think that would be really interesting. I mean, it’d probably make it more complicated for the fans, which we obviously don’t want to do, but I think it would be very interesting.” 

The #77 driver further explained how racing at Bowman Gray would be fun, as it creates the entertainment that the fans want.

Whether NASCAR will take up this suggestion is something that only time will tell. 

Will Carson Hocevar attempt the Double Duty?

The Spire Motorsports driver recently attended the Indy 500 practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He attended the practice as Andretti Global's guest. 

While talking to Frontstretch, the #77 driver was questioned about whether he would attempt double duty someday. "I would love to do it. We always laugh at joke that I'm, especially on our dirt team, I'm marketing and merchandising. My title isn't, anything other than marketing and merchandising," Carson Hocevar said. 

He further added, "I happen to drive, but on Monday through Friday, marketing merchized, so all the marketing merchandising of me in our offices department say this is great. But the race fan and race car driver would love to do this one day."

Even his Spire team owner has acknowledged his excitement over it and hasn't ruled it out. “Carson wants to be here like in a car like tomorrow. So, we’ll figure that out,” said Jeff Dickerson.

If Hocevar does attempt the double, he won’t be the first driver to do so. Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson attempted the double two years in a row but failed. This year, Katherine Legge will be attempting the double, where she will participate in the Coca-Cola 600 and drive in the Indy 500.
