As RFK Racing continues to work on a turnaround this season, the drivers took some time off for some friendly competition at Talladega Superspeedway with YouTuber Cleetus McFarland.

The RFK drivers and McFarland were seen driving Crown Victorias on the track, and in an interaction with Frontstretch, Chris Buescher shared his experience racing the Crown Vics.

“We had a blast. Not going to lie, that was a little sketchy at times, but Cleetus and that entire crew were awesome and welcomed us down there,” Buescher said.

He added that it came down to trust, saying running auction-spec Crown Vics side by side at 60 mph felt fun but also a bit sketchy. He said having Brad Keselowski involved made it easier to go along with it, and the group had a great time.

He also spoke about the possibility of a NASCAR Crown Victoria series, saying it wouldn’t be a wise decision since these are street cars with a roll cage, not race-spec machines built to be pushed hard on track.

“I would not want to put 30 Crown Vics on Talladega and try to actually race,” Buescher said, adding that he briefly considered making a race-winning move in one of the mock runs but held back after realizing the risks. He noted that the cars were not built for that level of racing, even though the experience was still a lot of fun.

NASCAR Drivers and Off-Track Content Collaborations

You now see NASCAR drivers turning up in creator-led projects outside race weekends. Kyle Busch and Joey Logano are part of that. It’s not the usual race setup, and that’s what brings in a different audience.

Cleetus has been doing this for a while now. Freedom Factory, “Cleetus and Cars,” same idea each time. NASCAR drivers, grassroots racers, content creators, all mixed together. No real pressure to race, just run and put on something people will watch.

That approach only goes so far. Talladega doesn’t play along. The speeds jump, the margin disappears, and those cars are nowhere near built for that kind of racing.
