The reigning NASCAR Truck Series champion, Corey Heim, is back in victory lane in his first Truck start since Bristol in April. The newly announced 2027 Cup driver for 23XI Racing edged out his Tricon Garage teammate to take a narrow victory.

Heim-time arrived in Michigan, where Heim got the victory ahead of Kayden Honeycutt, who had given Heim a push earlier. On the final lap, Heim used the draft from lapped traffic to his advantage, winning by a mere 0.065 seconds over his Tricon Garage teammate.

Heim spoke to FOX Sports after the race and said:

"I appreciate the help from the 11(Honeycutt) and the 62(Christopher) all day to get us away from the pack. I thought we had the three or four best trucks running up front, so they did a nice job getting us out front."

With the win at the high-banked Michigan track, Heim now has wins at 22 different tracks in the Truck series, edging closer to Ron Hornaday Jr.’s record of wins at 31 different tracks.

Heim was given a push by the No. 11 car he drove in 2025, and Bell in the Halmer-Friesen Toyota. While Heim and Honeycutt made it a 1-2 for the Tricon Garage, Bell finished in 6th. 

Heim said that the Toyota drivers had a conversation pre- race, about the Toyota cars helping each other out as and when possible.

"We kind of discussed that pre-race, and then we’re gonna race it out at the end, and that’s what we did."

Heim also lauded Honeycutt for the race he drove, adding, "I tried to get my right rear there, which would have probably won the race, and I had to protect it. Props to Kayden, Props to Christopher. I don’t know where he ended up, but he was helping me really good all day."

The final spot on the podium was taken by home hero Carson Hocevar, who had a special family member in the stands to witness his brilliance.

Hocevar Takes 3rd at Home, Front Row Round Up Top Five

Carson Hocevar really wanted the win on Saturday with the Michigan-born driver’s mother watching on from the stands. Hocevar’s No. 77 Spire Chevrolet looked like the most dominant car, as he led 65 of 125 laps

However, post-race, he hinted at overheating in the car, an issue that cost him the win. 

“Everyone did a good job. Just sucks we didn’t close it out there,” said Hocevar. “Felt like I could have done a better job, but don’t know what I could have done differently. Would like to see what I would have had full power.”

Front Row Motorsports drivers had an impressive outing with Layne Riggs taking 4th and Chandler Smith taking 5th. 

Riggs, who won the last two races at Charlotte and Nashville, put on a stellar comeback in Michigan, having gone a lap down because of a pit issue. Riggs coming back to the top five means that he sits atop the championship with a 26-point lead over Kayden Honeycutt. 

Cleetus McFarland, who went a lap down after a spin that caused a caution, finished his second Truck race on the lead lap in 25th.
