Dale Earnhardt Jr. did not hold back from confronting a fan of a cheating accusation recently. This took place when a fan on the internet questioned his iconic No. 3 Wrangler Chevy from 2010 and called it a "cheated up car."
Responding to the allegations, Dale Jr. took to his official X account and wrote, "I got it at my shop right now on a lift if you ever wanna come over and show me what you're talking about."
Interestingly, soon after Dale Jr. responded, the fan withdrew his accusation with a graphic comment, reading 'I withdraw my accusation'. However, Dale Jr. did not spare him and still insisted that he come and check out the car at his garage.
The #3 Wrangler Chevrolet was unveiled by Dale Earnhardt Jr. on April 29, 2010. It was done to celebrate his father's induction into the inaugural NASCAR Hall of Fame class.
Driving the same yellow and blue-painted Wrangler, Dale Jr. lived up to the hype as he won the 2010 Subway Jalapeno 250 at the Daytona International Speedway. He led a race high 34 laps, and went on to win the race in front of thousands of fans.
Fast forward to today, Dale Earnhardt Jr. no longer races; instead runs a NASCAR team. But when he raced, he always avoided number 3.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. revealed why he never raced with the #3 car
Dale Earnhardt Jr. never raced with the #3 car since that race. Explaining the reason behind his decision, he stated that the number belonged to his late father and Richard Childress Racing, and out of respect, he decided to keep away from racing with that number.
"I want to run it once before I retire and this will probably be it,” he said. “I can pretty much say I'm 99 percent sure I'll probably never drive a car with a 3 on it again. It's not [my number] to take and use whenever I feel like using it. You just don't grab the car keys and run out the door and haul down the road with your dad's car. I didn't do it when he was alive and I won't do it now."
However, Richard Childress kept the number #3 alive in NASCAR as Austin Dillon drives it in RCR. On the other hand, Earnhardt Jr. raced with the #88 car during his racing career.
