Daniel Dye Begins Comeback After Controversial NASCAR Truck Series Exit

Daniel Dye will be back on the track this weekend at the ARCA Menards Series Tide 150 at Kansas Speedway. This will be his first race since the controversy and suspension that came earlier in March. The former Kaulig Racing driver had made an offensive remark about IndyCar driver David Malukas on a live stream.

News of his comeback broke after the ARCA entry list was released on Tuesday. Dye will drive the No. 24 Chevrolet for Sigma Performance Services after resigning from Kaulig Racing this month. As he attempts to rebuild his reputation, he gets sponsorship backing for this comeback from Champion Container Corporation.

In the controversial video, Dye mocked Malukas by mimicking his voice and using a derogatory slur. This incident led to an immediate suspension from both his team and NASCAR. Dye was instructed to complete sensitivity training before being reinstated. He has since apologized for his comments.

NASCAR lifted his suspension on March 31. However, instead of returning, he voluntarily stepped away from Kaulig Racing that very day.

"Now that I'm reinstated, I'm optimistic about what the future holds and look forward to working hard at my next opportunity," he said in a statement. "This sport and its fans mean everything to me, and I can't wait to get back to it focused on the real goal more than ever."

Now signed with Sigma Performance Services Racing for Kansas, Dye is looking at a new chapter.

The Road Ahead for Daniel Dye Is Tricky

Daniel Dye might be back, but after returning to ARCA, he now faces a relatively challenging road back to racing in the Truck Series and the higher steps in the NASCAR ladder.

In 2026, he started only three Truck races, with a best finish of 13th in Atlanta. His return to the ARCA race at Kansas should be a good ground to build on, considering his past results at the track. He stood on the podium at the track in 2022, when he was driving for GMS Racing in ARCA.

That same year, Daniel Dye was suspended from ARCA Menards after he was charged with felony battery on account of an incident in High School. Only after it was reduced to a felony misdemeanor, the series reinstated him.
