Denny Hamlin Laughs Off Cheating Buzz With Chase Briscoe Dig
While Denny Hamlin is often known for his serious takes and opinions, there are times when the Joe Gibbs Racing driver is the exact opposite. From taking things as a joke to pulling a prank on someone, the #11 driver can do it all, something he pulled off most recently after the race at Dover.
A few hours after Hamlin won the NASCAR All-Star race and took home $900,000, a strange post started surfacing. In the post (most-likely a fake AI-generated one that Briscoe himself commented on), Chase Briscoe, who finished the race in second place and claimed $100,000, allegedly stated that Hamlin used a mysterious device to gain an advantage in the race and win it.
Despite the bizarreness of the fake news, Hamlin did not leave a chance to show his wit. Responding to the comment section of the post, Hamlin wrote, “I knew we would eventually get caught. Just didn’t think it would be a teammate that ratted us out.”
Briscoe commented laughing, "AI posts are out of control."
Notably, Hamlin's car indeed got through the checks after the victory, as this is a customary procedure to check them for any irregularities.
Coming back to the victory on Sunday, Denny Hamlin showed his class once again as the Joe Gibbs Racing star dominated the race once again and won it. With this, he claimed two victories this season, even though it was a non-championship race.
Thanks to the victory, Hamlin now has four wins at the Dover Motor Speedway and his second NASCAR All-Star win. Although the race did not provide him with points, the #11 driver would take all the experiences home.
Denny Hamlin shared his thoughts after NASCAR All-Star win
Following the conclusion of the race at Dover, Denny Hamlin shed light on his day. Speaking to the media after the race, here's what the JGR star said:
“It makes it a lot easier when you’ve got a car this fast, honestly. We strive to be No. 1. We did it today. It really challenged us to have to go through traffic. Otherwise, you could go out there, and you could lead a bunch of laps, but I definitely like the invert. Obviously, it caused some chaos there, took out some good cars."
"But overall, it’s a typical All-Star Race when that stuff happens. But I just knew that the game changer for us was long runs, and obviously, the ability to pass when we’re behind someone. I’ll probably give (the $1 million) to Mama," Hamlin further added.
While Chase Briscoe came home in second place, Erik Jones, Austin Dillon, and Connor Zilisch completed the Top five. Austin Cindric, William Byron, Michael McDowell, Alex Bowman, and Brad Keselowski wrapped up the top 10.
