The New York Knicks recorded the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history as they beat the San Antonio Spurs in the last 1.2 seconds by one point after trailing by 29 points. They are now one win away from a historic first NBA crown since 1973. But NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin feels they can't achieve that just yet. 

Hamlin replied to a post on X that predicted the Knicks to take the win in Game 5. With 4 games done in the NBA Finals, the Knicks sit on a 3-1 advantage over the Spurs after a marvelous 29-point comeback to win game 4 by one point. 

He wrote on X, “World class troll tweet. Everyone knows they ain’t winning in 5. If they win at all.”

Hamlin has long been a fan of the Chicago Bulls, since the 90s when Michael Jordan and company dominated the sport. Since becoming Jordan’s partner to found their NASCAR team, 23XI, that loyalty has only increased. 

However, Hamlin’s reply wasn’t received well, and fans of the New York Knicks hit back at the JGR driver.

Trolls Hit Hard at Hamlin

Hamlin won’t be looking at the replies to his comment on X because Knicks fans aren’t holding back.

One fan wanted to know if Hamilin’s alliance to Jordan had something to do with his comment, “Denny dont tell us MJ talked you into betting against the knicks 🤣”

Another fan took a hit at Denny’s championship-winning calibre and wrote, “Everyone must listen. No one knows less about winning championships than Ol’ Dennis Hamlin. It’s ironic for him to call anyone a troll. He has a podcast made for trolling.”

One fan warned Hamlin, “Denny, be prepared bro, you bouta get blitzed by the whole city of NY.”

A Hamlin fan felt a little differently and wrote, “Denny come on I'm a 11 fan when it comes to nascar but when it comes to NBA I'm Knicks fan so I need my NBA team &Nascar driver to both win it all.”

And then there was a fan recalling the Knicks' curse-and-uncursing incident with WWE superstar Danhausen, who had initially cursed the Knicks and then uncursed them. Since then, the Knicks went on a 10-game winning run. The fan wrote, “You’re completely disregarding @DanhausenAD‘s curse. Dennyhausen.”

“Finally something I can respect about you Denny," wrote one of the few fans who sided with Hamlin. 

With the Knicks looking to close out the series in Game 5, fans will be watching closely to see what Hamlin posts on X and what his reaction will be.
