F1 promises 'something special' for fans in 2027: Here's all we know
Formula 1 is already looking beyond the current season, and the sport's next big chapter could bring a fresh experience for fans around the world. F1 has hinted at something different waiting around the corner, one that could make 2027 a year worth watching for more than just the racing.
On September 3, Formula One put out a teaser on their account for the 2027 season launch. They captioned the video with:
"Something special is coming "
In the video, a Formula 1 car and a helmeted driver appear in a sleek, futuristic style, paired with the line "get ready to experience the future."
In the 10-second clip, posted by Formula One on their X account, the video then cycles through a list of countries before landing on Italy, a detail that could hint at the possibility of the season launch being hosted there, closing out with the F1 logo and a date, suggesting a bigger announcement is still to come.

According to the video, the 2027 season launch will take place from 18-20 February. However, beyond this, there have been no other details revealed about the launch.
If the launch does take place in Italy, it won't be something new for the sport, as they hosted the 2025 season launch at O2 Arena in London. The grand launch was held to commemorate the sport's 75th anniversary.
For now, fans will have to wait for Formula 1 to reveal the finer details. Whatever's coming, it looks set to be more than just a standard season launch.
However, this isn't the only big news in Formula One this week.
Will Nike make a comeback to Formula One ?
Nike's name isn't new to the F1 paddock; it's history. Long before this week's reports, the brand already had a foothold in the sport once before.
Its ties to F1 go back to 1996, when it made racing boots for seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher after he joined Ferrari.
That partnership ended in 2002, when FILA took over as Schumacher's bootmaker. Nike has stayed out of F1 ever since.
However, according to Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal, now, that could be changing as Nike executives reportedly held talks with Formula One management about the partnership during the Miami Grand Prix earlier this year.
But neither Formula One nor Nike has confirmed the reports. Only time will tell if the sporting clothes brand will make a comeback.
