Ryan Preece’s radio has been one of the biggest highlights of the 2026 Cup season, but definitely not for him. 

The 60 RFK Racing Ford driver was first penalized for taking out Ty Gibbs on lap 101 of the Texas race. Fined $50,000 and a 25-point deduction, Preece and RFK appealed the fine to no avail. 

Last weekend at Chicagoland, Preece complained about the headrest adjustment NASCAR asked him to make while in the garage during practice. While he hasn’t been penalized for it yet, Preece’s response in the media on both occasions was the same. 

It’s almost become a motto for him and now even a quote with great monetary value. Preece posted a picture of a T-shirt he will now be selling.

The T-shirt read: “Don’t hit the Button.” And Preece posted it along with a simple caption: “Radio Check.”

Fans are applauding Preece’s not-so-subtle swipe at NASCAR for being hard on him with penalties over what he’s been saying on the team radio. 

One fan commented, “Ryan is h***-bent on recovering that race fine back.. Love it.” Another wrote, “Master level troll job.  I’ll have one 🤣”

A fan lauded Preece’s ability to see the funny side of things and wrote, “That’s a guy who can laugh at himself. And make some $$$$ from it. Smart guy.” Another wrote, “Well now you have to ask yourself, "why am I not following Ryan Preece?"This is phenomenal 😍”

While most saw the fun side, one fan pointed out the possible outcome of Preece’s new money-making move. “NASCAR: -50 points to Ryan Preece for taunting”

But Preece isn’t the first to take potshots at NASCAR. Even Michael Jordan’s 23XI had taken a shot back in 2025. 

The unbannable livery that caused a storm

Preece may be taking the potshots now, but the biggest potshot taken at NASCAR was by 23XI Racing when they ran a special livery for the Clash at Bowman Gray in 2025. 

NASCAR was attempting to take 23XI’s charter away, and Jordan’s team filed an antitrust lawsuit, which they went on to essentially win and secure their charter. 

But as the case dragged on and things got uncomfortable, 23XI decided to take a dig by putting Tyler Reddick in an Air Jordan livery, as reported by racingnews.com. The livery didn’t promote any random product but a certain sneaker that the NBA had banned Jordan from using in his rookie season in 1985.

The Air Jordan 1 didn’t make the cut for the NBA but became a supremely popular shoe. The Clash at Bowman Gray coincided with the 40th anniversary of the iconic sneaker’s release. 

Jordan’s 23XI driver drove the car that had the word “Unbannable” written on it in big, bold fonts. And NASCAR could do nothing about it. 

23XI killed two birds with one stone with that livery, taking a legitimate dig at NASCAR trying to take their charter away as well as celebrating the iconic shoe that Jordan wanted to wear on court but was never allowed.
