FOX Broadcaster Earns Rare Fan Support as Rookie Mistake Draws Criticism
FOX Sports drew both praise and criticism following its broadcast of the NASCAR Truck Series race at Rockingham Speedway, as fans reacted to both the on-track action and the network’s coverage.
During the Black’s Tire 200, Jamie Little’s voice was the primary one heard as Corey Heim battled to the finish against Kaden Honeycutt.
Heim, in the No. 1 Toyota for Tricon Garage, had won both stages and was leading comfortably until four laps to go, when the steering shifted about 20 degrees to the right. Even with that issue, he kept the lead and held off Honeycutt in a close fight on the final lap.
During the final laps, fans noted limited input from the FOX broadcast. Jamie Little, who has often drawn criticism from fans on social media, was the only voice calling the battle, while the others in the commentary booth, along with Regan Smith, remained quiet.
Back during the 2023 Truck race at Daytona, Jamie Little was getting called out for missed calls, late reactions, and getting caught off guard in key moments, with fans questioning how she handled the pressure.
Adam Andretti was involved in an incident after exiting Turn 2 in the early part of Stage 2, but FOX cameras failed to clearly capture how it unfolded. He ended up with a heavily damaged car, but the broadcast only showed replays after Andretti’s Toyota was already in the wall.
Fans Express Mixed Feelings on the FOX Broadcast
Fans expressed their support for Jamie Little on X, “I am sorry Jamie, I wasn't aware of your game till I listened to Regan,” wrote a fan, “We fans owe u an apology.”
Another fan wrote, “They brought Regan Smith into the booth to show it can be worse than Jamie Little.”
While Jamie Little got her plaudits, FOX faced heat from fans on X.
Fans lashed out on X, saying, “Would've been nice to know how Adam Andretti got spun, terrible replays by FOX #NASCAR.”
About the final battle, one fan wrote, “An unbelievable battle to the finish between Heim and Honeycutt that the booth completely slept through. How many more times is everyone going to tolerate this?”
“It is insane how bad this truck broadcast is,” wrote a fan, while another said, “Terrible coverage of a fantastic finish.”
