Greg Biffle's aviation company and family sued & dragged to court over serious accusations

A lot has gone down surrounding the late NASCAR driver Greg Biffle’s family since their tragic passing in December 2025. The latest development comes as the wife of pilot Dennis Dutton and mother of Jack Dutton, Margaret Stephanie Dutton has filed a lawsuit against the late NASCAR driver’s aviation company and estate.

The former NASCAR driver tragically passed away along with his wife, Cristina Grossu, and two children, Ryder and Emma, in a plane crash on 18 December 2025. Others on board the Cessna Citation 500 who also lost their life were longtime NASCAR crew member Craig Wadsworth, pilot Dennis Dutton, and his son Jack Dutton.

More than seven months after the fatal crash, the tragedy has now taken a legal turn. On Wednesday, July 29, the NASCAR reporter Sydney Haulenbeek via her X account shared the court documents filed by Margaret Stephanie Dutton, who filed a wrongful death suit against Biffle’s company, GB Aviation Leasing.

"The wife and mother of the pilot & son killed in Greg Biffle's plane crash sued Biffle's company and the administrator of his estate. She claims GB Aviation Leasing failed to make sure the plane was in an airworthy condition or conduct adequate safety checks. #nccourts #NASCAR" Per the post put out by Haulenbeek.

According to the documents released by Haulenbeek, Dutton's widow is seeking compensatory damages.

Back in May, Margaret Stephanie Dutton filed a similar wrongful death lawsuit against the former NASCAR driver’s estate, seeking $15 million in damages, as Biffle was responsible for the maintenance of the aircraft being piloted by her husband Dennis Dutton.

During the ongoing investigation, it was revealed that Dutton was not ready to fly the Cessna Citation 500 and, according to the FAA regulations, a certified second-in-command pilot was required, which neither Greg Biffle nor Jack Dutton was.

This is not the only lawsuit that Greg Biffle's estate has been hit with.

Greg Biffle’s Ex-wife sues the former NASCAR driver's estate

Back in May, Biffle’s ex-wife, Nicole Lunders, filed a lawsuit against the late NASCAR driver’s estate. The lawsuit was filed for the wrongful death of Emma, the only daughter of the former NASCAR driver and Nicole in their eight years of marriage.

According to the post put out by NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass on his X account, Lunders' lawsuit primarily targets Biffle and Dennis Dutton’s estates.

It stated that the plane belonging to the former NASCAR driver was not well maintained which led to the death of Emma. Furthermore, the lawsuit also stated that there were early warning signs before the take off which were ignored by Biffle and Dutton.

While the NTSB released its preliminary report, where they stated that they found the left engine of the plane to be faulty. However, the final report is yet to be released.
