The recipe for building a good, successful team in NASCAR is not just limited to fast cars. Having a consistent driver who helps in delivering results is key, and for Dale Jr., Justin Allgaier is that figure.

The JR Motorsports co-owner recently credited the 2024 O'Reilly champion for the team's longstanding success. After Allgaier's fifth win of the 2026 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series in Pocono, Dale Jr. was asked if this season has been his best career phase.

"I've always privately (talked) with Kelley (Earnhardt Miller, sister and JRM co-owner). I've always said, 'Man, Justin's just our dependable guy every week.' We have other cars that are fast and other drivers that are young, and there's a lot of excitement around them, but Justin is just dependable," Dale Jr. replied. (via Cup Scene on YouTube).

Justin Allgaier drives the No. 7 car for JR Motorsports. He joined the team back in 2016 and has remained with the team since. Allgaier has won a race in each season, barring his first with the team.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer further explained how the No. 7 JR Motorsports driver has been one of the pillars of the team and has helped the organization pull through some tough times. 

"He's going to run good every week and some days better than other cars, all, you know, some days he'll be our best car, but he'll always be a solid race car. And I feel like that he's been the cornerstone of the company, and his success and consistency has helped stabilize us throughout some tough times. And so I'm wondering if we just didn't really know how good he was," Dale Jr. added.  

17 races into the 2026 O’Reilly season, the 2024 champion is leading the championship with 842 points and has a 250-point gap over Jesse Love in second. Allgaier has managed to set himself as the benchmark in the JR Motorsports camp.  

However, this is not the first time that Dale Jr has praised the 40-year-old driver.

Earlier in March 2026, the O’Reilly series underwent a few rule changes. Just like other teams, JR Motorsports also struggled to figure things out under the new rules. However, it was their veteran driver who remained consistent throughout.

While talking to the media in March, the NASCAR Hall of Famer praised Allgaier’s performance and his leadership skills. He said:

"Justin has done an incredible job leading our organization. He’s always been dependable, always fast, a great teammate, and he handles sponsors the right way. He continues to be exceptional across the board and is doing a great job on the racetrack."

Both of Dale Jr’s statements reflect how important Justin Allgaier has been to JR Motorsports over the years. Beyond his consistent results, Allgaier has gained recognition for his leadership and for helping the team remain competitive in the O’Reilly series.

Allgaier was considering retirement after 2026, but his incredible run has left him rethinking the decision.
