"He's Just a Goober": Bubba Wallace Takes a Swipe at Carson Hocevar's Personality

Bubba Wallace has been known to make blunt remarks and not hold back when it comes to giving his opinion on his fellow drivers or topics concerning NASCAR. He recently gave one such blunt verdict about the Cup series' rising star, Carson Hocevar.

During Thursday's appearance on the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast alongside Ryan Blaney, Wallace was questioned about the Spire Motorsports driver's personality in the NASCAR Garage. The 23XI Racing driver was quick to reply, saying:

"He's kind of just a goober. I mean, he's probably a nice kid, but he's just kind of like, he's a super, he doesn't interact with any of the drivers. He's just to himself. All he does is iRacing and goes and races on the weekends."

Wallace and Blaney then joked about how old they feel with the new generation of NASCAR drivers coming in, in the context of the differing personalities.

Bubba Wallace and Carson Hocevar locked horns earlier this year during the race at Martinsville. It happened after Wallace made contact with Hocevar's car from behind, causing a multi-car wreck.

However, after the race, the 23XI Racing driver admitted to 'misjudging' the corner and that it wasn't an intentional revenge for an earlier incident between the two.

Despite the nature of the wreck, the two have never exchanged heated words on the track but rather have taken a mature path to resolving their issues.

When it comes to his personality, Hocevar has previously mentioned how he is not keen on changing it to fit the norms.

Carson Hocevar Talks About Changing His Personality for NASCAR Success

After his first win at Talladega in April, Carson Hocevar gained popularity for his unique celebration, where he sat on the window sill of his car and drove a victory lap from there while pumping his arm in celebration.

His performances and aggressive racecraft have also landed him comparisons with the legendary Dale Earnhardt. However, when asked if he would want to change his personality to gain more success in the sport, that is where he drew the line.

"It doesn’t matter how much money available is there like, because I would be breaking the heart of the six-year-old kid that fell in love with NASCAR," Hocevar told Kevin Harvick earlier this month.

"There was times where it’s like, 'Hey, you’re Cup driver now. This is how you act, or this is how you post online, or this is what you do, or 'you gotta dress this way'. I’m like, 'Then I’ll just quit.'"

Despite all the chatter surrounding his personality, Carson Hocevar is not yet ready to fit into the mould that many in the paddock would want him to fit into.
