Hyak Motorsports Locks in Ricky Stenhouse Jr. With Multi-Year Deal

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was projected to be a part of the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series. But that rumor can be put to bed now, as Stenhouse and Hyak Motorsports are set for a long-term future.

Stenhouse, who signed with Hyak in the 2020 season, when it was called JTG Daugherty Racing, spoke about his contract extension.

“I’m thrilled to finally get this contract extension done. It’s something we’ve been working on for a while, and I’m really thankful to everyone at Hyak Motorsports, especially Gordon,” said Stenhouse.

On Monday, following the race at Watkins Glen, where the #47 Chevrolet finished 31st, Hyak Motorsports and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. announced that after long conversations, the two parties are now locked in with a new multi-year deal.

“His vision for this race team and the passion he brings to it every single day is special. A lot of people may not know Gordon that well yet, but he truly cares about motorsports, NASCAR, and this No. 47 team, and that shows in everything he does," Stenhouse added.

Besides the owner Gordon Smith, Stenhouse Jr. also thanked co-owner Brad Daugherty, Mark Hughes, and Ernie Cope.

“Ricky has been a huge part of what we’re building at Hyak Motorsports, and we’re proud to continue this partnership for years to come,” said Gordon Smith.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Is Crucial to Hyak’s Future

Stenhouse Jr. spent 11 years at RFK Racing before making the switch, and he has become one of the most crucial pieces of the puzzle for Hyak Motorsports.

“He brings experience, leadership, and a competitive mindset every weekend, and we believe there’s still a lot ahead for this team with Ricky in the No. 47,” said Smith about what Stenhouse brings to the team.

Stenhouse does bring a proven superspeedway pedigree to the table, with four career wins on drafting tracks in the NASCAR Cup Series, highlighted by his 2023 Daytona 500 victory.

The 38-year-old showed that speed is still very much alive earlier this season, coming home with a runner-up finish at the Daytona 500.
