Some NASCAR wins are etched into fans' hearts and are remembered for decades. Dale Earnhardt Jr’s win at the 2001 Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway was one such win.

On July 7 that year, he returned to the 2.5-mile Superspeedway just six months after his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., lost his life in the final laps of the Daytona 500. The tragic moment still hung over the NASCAR community, and Dale Jr's victory was a fitting conclusion to an emotional storyline that never should have begun how it did.

The future NASCAR Hall of Famer started the race in 13th place, but managed to make his way through the traffic and lead the pack. Despite multiple cautions and restarts, he managed to keep the lead of the race to eventually win the event.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the iconic win, NASCAR, in collaboration with TNT Sports, along with drivers like Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Austin Dillon, and Chase Elliott, put together a video. 

In the video, Elliott commented, "There are monumental moments, and this was one that left an impact on everyone."

The race also featured several legendary drivers like Kyle Petty, Tony Stewart, Bill Elliott, and Dave Blaney, among others. After spotting his father in the video, Ryan Blaney said, 

"Dave Blaney! My dad was in that race."

Along with the drivers, NASCAR fans also shared their memories from that summer day. 

NASCAR fans get emotional as they look back on Dale Jr’s 2001 win at Daytona

Many fans flooded the comment section of TNT Sports' X post as they looked back on the win. Dale Earnhardt Jr. himself commented on the post that he had no idea about the video.

He wrote, "Had no clue they put this together. I really enjoyed this."

For a fan, the video brought back several emotions, admitting it moved them to tears. They wrote, 

"I cried watching this damn."

One fan reflected on the win as they wrote, 

"I’ve said it before but it’s always worth repeating. That night in Daytona was Americana at its shimmering, sparkling, gleaming best."

Another fan pointed out how the victory was made even more special with Allen Bestwick's commentary. They wrote, 

"@AllenBestwick's call at the checkered will always be one of my biggest, most emotional NASCAR memories of the 2001 season."

A fan recalled watching the race live as they shared their excitement from watching Dale Jr win the Pepsi 400 race in 2001. They wrote, 

"I saw this race and screamed, jumping up and down."
