Joey Logano Drops Subtle Post-Retirement Plan Amidst 2026 Struggles

Joey Logano is 35 years old. As young as he may be, he is among the great veterans in NASCAR right now, with three Cup Series Championships and a career that's running for 19 years now. But at this point in his tenure, Logano has been dabbling in a side interest. Fans could soon see him here, when he does retire.

Since 2024, Logano has taken up various roles in commentary and analysis, be it on radio or in the Drivers Only booth for the Xfinity Series for FOX’s broadcast. And by the way things are looking, beyond racing, Logano really likes talking about it.

Logano was recently asked on the NASCAR Live podcast if he would consider broadcasting as a career once he’s done racing, to which he said, “I love it. I like just hanging out, talking about race cars. It’s who I am.”

He has been doing a double shift on race weekends when the Cup series and Xfinity take place together. Speaking on that experience, he said, “I’m going to watch the race anyway. I might as well be up there and have a little bit of fun and get to talk about it and hang out with fans.”

“It’s a fun thing to do for me. It’s a good experience because I would be very interested in doing some of this type of stuff."

The Team Penske driver has addressed retirement plans before, and he said last year that when he starts to "feel like a drag" for the team, he will "get out of the way." But until then, he's going to keep contributing. He has a contract with Team Penske till 2028; he has already been planning what the life of a retired driver looks like.

Joey Logano Is Not Having A Great Time This Season

Logano is currently 12th in the standings, and he had predicted at the start of the season that winning the Cup Series going into the Chase in 12th place would be difficult. There are now serious questions about Team Penske, as their 2024 champion driver seems to be struggling for pace in his # 22 Ford.

"They have no speed," Kyle Petty said on PRN Fast Talk. "If we just go to Bristol, they qualified pole, seventh or eighth with Cindric, and 28th or 29th with Joey, and that's the way he's been all year... Joey needs speed to start, to get up front and run there, because it's a totally different race coming from the back.”

So far, the former champion has only managed to make two top-five finishes and three top-ten finishes. And for a driver of his caliber, standing at No. 12 with just 218 points is not a good look.
