Joey Logano ends beef with MLB Hall of Famer one year after bitter exchange

One of the easter eggs to come out of the race weekend in Atlanta, apart from an over-3-hour rain delay, was Joey Logano’s post.

Logano came under fire from MLB Hall of Famer Chipper Jones after the 22 Penske Ford driver heavily criticized his teammate Austin Cindric over the radio in Talladega.

Jones, a long-time NASCAR fan who grew up near Daytona International Speedway, was not happy when Logano’s message over the radio following Cindric’s Talladega win in 2025 was more negative than celebratory.

Thankfully for NASCAR fans, they have one less feud to worry about as Logano took to X and posted a picture of himself with Chipper Jones, who served as the grand marshal during the race in Atlanta. The caption read, “Officially Squashed 🤝 | @RealCJ10”

The feud began when Logano felt he didn’t get enough help from his teammate to win stage 2 in Talladega last year, with Bubba Wallace taking the stage win. Logano’s radio message included a lot of expletives, and Jones, a man used to the team game, was left disgusted.

Jones felt that the three-time Cup champion was being selfish instead of being supportive of his teammate’s victory.

Logano hit back at Jones, saying he’s probably never driven a car at 200 at Talladega before, so he had no clue what he’s talking about, and Logano wouldn’t be making comments on baseball because he doesn’t know the sport.

But it seems that it’s all clear now between the two stars of their respective sports, with Logano clearing the air. Although his performance at EchoPark Speedway cleared up a lot more than just his feud with Jones.

Logano starting to make an impact on the points table

Joey Logano hasn’t had the season you would expect of a driver of his three-championship-winning calibre. Logano has hovered around the bottom half of the field as well as the bottom half of the points table for most of the season.

But with the regular season coming to a close, Logano seems to have finally hit form.

After finishing 24th in Sonoma, Logano made a sharp comeback, finishing 12th in Chicagoland, where he picked up 25 handy points heading into Atlanta.

Ryan Blaney started from pole and took the race win, but it was Logano’s rise that would have made Team Penske breathe a sigh of relief. Logano started the race from 2nd and had a remarkable day at the office, finishing 9th and picking up 43 points.

With that, Logano now sits 17th in the standings, just 8 points off Erik Jones in 16th, the last entry slot for the Chase. It’s fair to say that Logano isn’t a championship favourite this year, but for him to not make the cut for the Chase, that would have been a terrible season for both him and Team Penske.

Logano is still in the red, but with his 6th top ten finish in 20 races this season, Logano knows he’ll need to keep consistency on his side to make it to the Chase.

Do you think Joey Logano can save his season and make the Chase? Let us know.
