Katherine Legge Seeks Kyle Larson's Advice for Historic Indy 500-Coca Cola 600 Double

On May 24, Katherine Legge will become the first woman to attempt the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 double. While racing in the two different racing series may not seem like a great achievement, doing so when the races take place in two different cities on the same day is a big deal.

And for this, Legge has taken advice from Kyle Larson, who has already attempted The Double twice in 2024 and 2025 with Arrow McLaren. Speaking about her historic attempt in an interview with RACER's Marshall Pruett, Legge touched upon her conversations with Larson, saying:

"I spoke to Kyle Larson about how he found it and what tips and tricks, and how do I get through it, and what do I need in the way of IVs and food and everything. Yeah, he was super helpful."

"So he's been awesome. Obviously, he's done it the last two years. He has a good frame of reference. He was unlucky with the weather. So I'm going to leave that to the hands of the weather gods,"Katherine Legge added.

The 45-year-old Briton has 47 IndyCar races and 19 NASCAR races to her name. However, her attempt at conquering the 1100 miles of racing on Memorial Day Weekend will depend on the weather, something Kyle Larson also spoke about recently.

Kyle Larson put a weather warning ahead of Katherine Legge's announcement

During his double duty in 2024, Kyle Larson missed the start of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway as rain delayed the start of the Indy 500 by four hours. Reflecting on the same incident, Larson showed his concern for Katherine Legge during the Watkins Glen NASCAR weekend, a couple of days before her official announcement of running The Double.

"I mean, first off, I think it'd be awesome if she could do it," Larson said in a clip shared by Steve Taranto on X. "I believe the first female and only female to have done it. So that would be Great. And then just the challenge is, as everybody was aware of. Mine is just the weather. So, I mean, you are driving, and whatnot is a challenge and its own."

"But ultimately it's the weather that kind of can put a damper on things if you get any bit of delay, so yeah, if anybody does do the double in the future, I hope it goes smoother than it did for me and, you know, they can enjoy the race day," he further added.

So far, only five drivers have attempted the double since 1994. It started with John Andretti that year, before Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, and Kyle Larson joined the list. Katherine Legge will be the sixth driver and the oldest to do so.
