Back in 2009, Kyle Busch was involved in a road stunt, which was similar to a scene from Tom Cruise's "Days of Thunder". It landed him in trouble with law enforcement, as a police officer pulled him over.

Nearly two decades later, Busch's former PR representative, Bill Janitz, has shared the story, which involved the late two-time Cup Series champion getting furious at the time.

In a recent conversation with NASCAR journalist Jeff Gluck at the Gluck Cast podcast, Janitz opened up about the 2009 incident where Busch and Bryan "Flounder" Schlossburg participated in the D.C. Beltway race, a "fun" race that took place in Washington at the 64-mile race track.

"There's two FJ Cruisers that were loaned out," Janitz said. "Flounder is this sort of sidekick that gets in the other FJ Cruiser. Kyle's in one, and then he has one of the radio guys there that is obviously on the phone doing the live sort of play-by-play of what we're doing."

Given how competitive Busch was, he was driving his heart out, banging doors, and was looking for the lead. In the end, he gained the race lead, but then, the police approached.

"We get ahead of Flounder towards the end of the race, and a police officer pulls him over," Janitz recalled. "And so Kyle is irate. He is more than mad because he's going to lose the race. Flounder comes by there, beeping the horn, beep, beep, beep, and goes, 'Yay'. So, and then he (Busch) is mad. And then finally, the police officer lets him go."

The door-banging race was similar to a scene from Days of Thunder, in which Tom Cruise races his co-worker in a rental car on the roads and crashes it in the end. While it wasn't the exact case in Busch's situation, the parallels were there.

Interestingly, the 2009 incident wasn't the only time Kyle Busch was caught by the police on the roads.

When The Police Pulled Kyle Busch Over for Speeding In 2011

In 2011, the police at Mooresville, North Carolina, pulled over Kyle Busch for breaching the speed limit. The two-time Cup Series champion was doing 128 miles an hour on a road that had a 45 mph speed limit.

Busch was driving his brand new yellow Lexus LFA, and was accompanied by his wife, Samantha Busch. The NASCAR star was given a citation for speeding, reckless, and careless driving.

He lost his driver's license for 45 days, had to pay a $1,000 fine, and perform 30 hours of community service. This was the reduced punishment after Busch apologized for his actions, stating not to repeat the same.

Notably, this was not the first time police pulled him over for speeding. In 2006, he got a police summons for screeching his tires at a fast food joint, and in 2008, he was caught going 55 mph in a 35 mph zone.
