The racing fraternity is reeling from the immense and sudden loss of the legendary two-time Cup champion Kyle Busch. As tributes flood in, the Memorial Day weekend in Charlotte will be an emotional affair. 

Busch won the truck race in Dover, driving the #7 Chevrolet Silverado for Spire Motorsports and HMS. After winning the race, Busch had said, “You never know when the last one is.”

That same team is now honoring NASCAR’s winningest driver with a return of Kyle Busch Motorsports featuring on the #7 Chevrolet Silverado. Corey Day will be taking over the duties of the truck that Busch was supposed to drive. And Day will start on the pole.

Spire Motorsports shared a post on their social media with pictures of the Kyle Busch Motorsports branding on their truck. Busch’s truck still has his name on it, even if he isn’t driving it. 

Spire’s post was accompanied by a tributary message, “ Continuing our success on the foundation he built.” And fans are getting extremely emotional about the honorary return of Busch's team. 

Replies flooded the post with fans expressing themselves, showing the impact Busch left on them. One fan wrote, “Put a [expletive] Cup motor in that truck if that’s what it takes tonight. Rowdy’s name needs to visit Victory Lane one more time.”

Another fan shared a picture of one of Busch’s truck wins and wrote,  “Kyle Busch doing Kyle things behind the wheel of a truck! Working his magic ✨🌟🙏 I don't know if I've ever wanted a truck to win SO BAD!”

Busch fans are loyal; that is exactly what one fan wrote, “We who pulled for this man will be forever in his corner !  Please keep his memory alive Spire !!”

Legacy of Kyle Busch Motorsports

Kyle Busch started his truck team back in 2010 and ran it till 2023, when he sold all of its NASCAR assets to Spire Motorsports. The team became a trailblazer. With Rowdy’s name on it, the team became an instant success and ended up winning 100 races, the most by a single team. 

Busch’s KBM didn’t just win; it also became the stepping stone to many a successful career, including the likes of current Cup series driver Noah Gragson, Todd Gilliland, William Byron, Bubba Wallace, and John Hunter Nemechek. KBM also won the 2015 Championship with Erik Jones.

Another driver to come through KBM is 2017 Truck Series winner, Christopher Bell. Bell said, “There’s not a single person in the industry that had a bigger impact on me throughout my career. I’m forever grateful for him and his dedication to the sport, helping young guys come up.”

Kyle Busch and his wife, Samantha, did a lot of charitable work. One fan hoped that KBM merchandise or trucks could be bought to support one of those charities. 

The fan wrote a reply to Spire’s post, “It would be great if you would sell these...and the proceeds could go to whichever charity was most important to them.  H***, I'll take 10 if you do!  Rest peacefully, Kyle 🏁🏁🏁”

One fan wrote about the gesture as a thoughtful one, although the pain won’t get any less: “This is extremely cool. Thank you for doing this, it doesn't take the pain away, but honoring him like this will make it a little easier.”

According to the statement from Busch's family, his death was caused by "severe pneumonia (that) progressed into sepsis." Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.
