Kyle Busch has offered a candid view into his relationships inside the NASCAR garage. The two-time Cup Series champion has previously admitted to having no close friendships with his fellow drivers.

In a recent interview with Sean Hannity, Busch explicitly stated he has "no" friends in the garage and explained why that is the case. He acknowledged how the entire NASCAR circus travels together around the year and used the example of his son, Brexton, to detail how friendships in the scene are built.

"There's some guys that are friends, and they have hung out together because they grew up racing together," said Busch. "So like my son, he's 10 years old, but he started racing with some of his buddies, and they hang out, they talk, and whatnot."

Explaining why his mindset has been different from the outset, the Richard Childress Racing driver added:

"But I grew up in Vegas, and when I went to the racetrack, I kind of grew up the way, like 'You bring your friends with you, and you hate everybody else that's there because they're your competition. You wanna beat those guys, you wanna beat them into the ground, you wanna go home with the trophy, and come back and do it all again next week."

Busch’s recent comments bear similarity to what he had said on the "Door Bumper Clear" podcast nearly a year ago. He had admitted he had friendships on the Toyota and Chevrolet sides, but none with Ford-powered drivers, also given his longtime rivalry with Brad Keselowski.

Kyle Busch Ignites New Feud With Denny Hamlin

Kyle Busch continues to have a disappointing 2026 season. On Sunday at Kansas, the Richard Childress Racing driver finished four laps down in 35th. In nine races this season so far, he has failed to finish in the Top 10 even once.

His struggles have been subject to scrutiny from fans and experts alike, and if there is one name that really stands out, it’s Denny Hamlin. The JGR driver recently criticized Busch in a recent episode of his podcast, theorizing that the RCR driver "doesn't know how to get the speed out of the Next Gen car."

However, just hours before the Kansas race, Busch answered back.

“If Denny wants to switch cars, I’ll switch cars with him, any day of the week, any time," Busch told Jeff Gluck. "I’d love for him to show me that he can carry it better than I can."

Busch also answered whether he reads what people comment about him online.

"I have consumed some of it over time. 80% of people don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. In this instance, I don’t know that Denny Hamlin even knows what the h*** he’s talking about. He can bash me all he wants. I can certainly make his life h***," the 40-year-old added.

Kyle Busch fell three places in the standings to 27th after the AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway. Whereas Hamlin advanced to second in the standings after nearly missing out on victory in overtime.
