Some new details have emerged about Kyle Busch’s untimely passing. An audio clip from the 911 call made for Busch has been released on X, which reveals the driver was coughing up blood and complained of breathlessness shortly before hospitalization. 

“Can I get an ambulance to come to set ****** W, Concord, North Carolina? I've got an individual that's complained of shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he's going to pass out, and he's producing a little bit of blood, coughing up some blood. He is awake. He's awake. He's on the bathroom floor right now.”

According to many reports, the driver was also found unresponsive after a session on a racing simulator. However, those details are yet to be verified. 

The two-time Cup Series champion was hospitalized just hours before his passing. Other than a ‘severe illness’, no specific reason was given in the statements issued by Busch’s family and RCR. 

Even as recently as May 17, the No. 8 RCR driver was asked about the reason he sought medical assistance after the Go Bowling race, to which he had replied it was due to a persistent cough, and that he still did not feel fully fine. 

His most recent win came in the Truck Series at the Eco Save 200 at Dover Motor Speedway, which was also the 69th Truck win of his career. After the race, he famously said, “You never know when the last one is.” 

Tributes pouring in across multiple racing forms

The NASCAR community is not the only one mourning Kyle Busch’s passing. The official IndyCar social handles and various Indy drivers also paid tributes to the late RCR driver. 

Katherine Legge, who is attempting Double duty this weekend, shared a separate post on Instagram, which had a picture of the late racer and his wife, Samantha.

The caption read, “It is incomprehensible how cruel life can be. Today we lost a racing legend, and most importantly, a brilliant husband and a fantastic daddy. 

It’s hard to process this loss, and the entire community mourns a hero. It’s just so unfair. My heart bleeds for Samantha, Brexton, Lennix, and the entire family. May he rest in peace.” 

In honor of the late driver, the President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, J. Douglas Boley, announced that the pylon will be lit up on Lap 18 of the Indy 500, with Busch’s name.
