Kyle Busch’s M&M paint scheme tribute canceled by NASCAR hours after announcement

Nearly a month after Kyle Busch's demise, Nitro Motorsports wanted to run a scheme to pay tribute to the great NASCAR driver. However, due to organizational issues, the governing body canceled the tribute hours after its announcement.

Professional stock car racing driver Thomas Annunziata and his team Nitro Motorsports’ planned tribute to Busch for this weekend’s ARCA Menards Series event at Lime Rock Park was called off after the team could not get the work done for the tribute on time.

"As you can imagine, the approval process for something like this is lengthy, and Nitro Motorsports has run out of time to complete all the necessary steps,” said a representative from Nitro Motorsports.

The scheme as released on Wednesday included the ever-famous M&M paint job by Joe Gibbs Racing from 2019, as reported by josephsrigley.com. It was the car that Busch drove to claim his second and final Cup Series championship, driving for the renowned sponsorship partner.

In the end, Annunziata drove the #70 Toyota in a JBL.com paint scheme and won the ARCA Menards Series race at Lime Rock Park. With this, the driver picked back-to-back wins at this very track, and winning the race in Kyle Busch's scheme would have meant differently for the driver.

Annunziata defied Andrew Ranger and Carson Brown, while Max Reaves and Nitro teammate Jake Bollman finished in the top five. Bollman currently leads the championship and is ahead of Annunziata by eight points.

NASCAR plans to honor Kyle Busch at Charlotte

NASCAR is all set to host a public memorial in memory of Kyle Busch on October 9, moments after the Craftsman Truck Series race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This will be the second memorial after the governing body arranged it during the Coca-Cola 600 race weekend.

As per NASCAR.com, it will be a free event, as his family, colleagues, fans, Motorsports enthusiasts, and the general public can attend it. Notably, Busch breathed his last at Concord, near the Charlotte Motor Speedway, in May when he was there for the crown jewel race.

He caught a cold, which transformed into pneumonia, and then rapidly progressed into sepsis. He was taken to the hospital immediately, but did not survive. Kyle Busch was 41 at the time of his passing and is survived by his wife, Samantha Busch, and two kids, Brexton and Lennix Busch.
