Kyle Larson reveals the true successor to his racing legacy: it’s not son Owen
With two Cup titles to his name, Kyle Larson is listed as one of the best drivers in NASCAR currently. Coming from a non-racing family background, Larson made a name for himself, but now he has kids who are ready to step into the world of motorsports. And Larson knows who can be his true successor.
Larson has three children, Owen, Audrey, and Cooper. While Cooper is just three years old, Owen and Audrey are fully involved in racing, and one of them will carry forward his legacy.
"I would say my daughter," Larson said when he appeared on the Racin' With The Boys podcast.
"I just think it's hard to kind of compare them because they're different, but my son, he's good too, but he's not mentally confident as she is. She is very competitive, and she wants to do a good job and everything that she does. She races, she plays ice hockey, and she takes everything super serious," he said.
Owen Larson is an 11-year-old dirt track racing driver who competes in the Junior Sprint Cars, Outlaw Karts, Winged Micro A-Class, and Stock Non-Wing micro sprint divisions. Audrey, who is three years younger than Owen, is an emerging dirt track racer.
"She'll sit down on the couch and study film and think she's a girl too... You can actually retain information a little bit better. Yeah, you can talk to her and then try to coach her and see her try to do it on the racetrack. So yeah, I think, she's a step ahead," Larson further added on the Racin' With The Boys podcast.

Even though Audrey has less experience than her elder brother, Larson believes the former has more maturity and composure, something that makes her the better Larson among them.
Moreover, she started racing quite recently, and despite that, she made a name for herself with her aggressive and highly competitive nature. And with her latest win, she amassed enormous appreciation and respect after her post-race action.
When Kyle Larson hailed daughter after Kyle Busch tribute
Days after Kyle Busch's demise, Audrey Larson dedicated her victory to the two-time Cup Series champion. Audrey won the Junior Sprint race at Kam Raceway in Nebraska and performed the signature Kyle Busch bow to honor him. Her father couldn't be prouder, witnessing it.
“I was super happy that she thought of that, and then the next night she ended up winning, and that was cool to pay tribute to Kyle,” Larson said via PRN, published by on3.com.
“It makes me proud to see that the kids understand the situation and are doing their part to support the family and honor, Kyle,” he added.
Kyle Busch passed away on May 21 after suffering from pneumonia, which rapidly progressed into sepsis. At the time of his demise, Busch was 41 and is now survived by his wife, Samantha Busch, and two kids, Brexton and Lennix.
