Kyle Larson Shares Joy as Kasey Kahne Finally Lands Sprint Car Win

Kahne visited the victory lane at Williams Grove Speedway nearly 10,486 days after his debut and 227 series starts. The World of Outlaws win sparked immediate praise from team owner and close friend Kyle Larson.

During his media availability, Kyle Larson congratulated him, saying, “Yeah, no, that was awesome. I was flying here so I didn’t get to watch the race live. But I’ve gotten multiple texts from people that he won. And landed in time to watch his interview to see how excited he was, how excited everybody was for him.”

“You know, the fans, he, and the team. Kasey’s put a lot into this sport for sprint car racing. Yeah, he’s achieved everything you can achieve as an owner.

"So to have him conquer something that he has been trying to get for a long time and has been somewhat close to was really cool too,” Larson further added.

At the age of 17, a young Kahne made his WOL debut at Grays Harbor Raceway. He rose to prominence as a NASCAR and dirt track driver, eventually owning Kasey Kahne Racing, winning six championships in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, without winning a sprint race himself. That 29-year-old curse finally ended on Friday.

Kahne eventually retired from his NASCAR duties in 2018. In his 15-year-long career, Kahne amassed 18 wins, three of which were the Coca-Cola 600s. His best finish in the sport was with Hendrick Motorsports, where he finished fourth in his debut season with the team.

As for his friend Kyle Larson, who is currently looking to end his winless streak in the Cup Series. It will be interesting to see if he can get it done at the upcoming race at Watkins Glen.

Kyle Larson speaks about his winless streak ahead of Watkins Glen

The last time Kyle Larson visited the victory lane was at Kansas Speedway in 2025. Since then, he has had near misses and has failed to capitalize on the available opportunities.

Ahead of the race at Watkins Glen, the #5 Hendrick Motorsports driver addressed this issue. "I mean I think you guys pay attention to it way more than I pay attention to it. Yeah, obviously I would have loved to have won to this point, but we just haven't been good enough.

"I feel like at times we're really close to getting a win and then at times I feel like we're far from getting a win. So it just kind of shows how tough the series is."

Historically, Larson has performed well at road courses. For the upcoming race at Watkins Glen, he has qualified in 23rd place.
