A clip from the most recent episode of Denny Hamlin’s Actions Detrimental podcast is going viral, and Hamlin is currently in the midst of a war of words with fans over it. 

Hamlin spoke about how during the drivers' meeting ahead of Atlanta, all the drivers collectively decided that no matter what, nobody would push Carson Hocevar to the win. 

And that’s exactly what happened with Ryan Blaney being pushed across the line by Christopher Bell, a Toyota driver. Hamlin’s clip received a whole bunch of comments from NASCAR fans, and one such comment got a reply from the 11 JGR Toyota driver. 

Hamlin replied to a comment and wrote, “I'm sorry your tweet didn’t make the minimum IQ standards. Stay denied.”

The reply came to a long comment written by a fan who admitted to being a Hamlin fan for a decade but wrote that he felt that Hocevar had a better chance of winning a title than Hamlin did and even said that if Hamlin won 35 races in a row, he wouldn’t win the all-important 36th. 

The comment was one long, hard shot at Hamlin from someone who claimed to be a Hamlin fan. One point the comment touched on was that the fan believed Hocevar understands what fans bring to the sport, which is why he holds them in such high regard and caters to them with on-track entertainment. 

This part of the comment was included because Hamlin said that Hocevar is racing drivers on the grid, not fans, and that he should look to garner respect from them rather than become enemies. 

While this was the most opinionated comment Hamlin replied to, it wasn’t the only one. 

Hamlin’s replies grab the spotlight

The championship leader had several people to reply to. One comment said that Hamlin was jealous, to which he replied, “Jealous of what exactly?”

Hamlin was clearly not holding back because when the fan replied to Hamlin and wrote, “clearly you’re jealous of how young, talented, and popular he is. imo he’s more popular right now than michael jordan and that eats away at you every waking second that you have to go to your podcast and gossip about him like a teenage girl instead of doing it at the track dennis”

Hamlin’s reply to this one was rather detailed and long. Hamlin wrote:

“Yes, you got me. How can I not be jealous of someone half my age. Sure wish I could turn back the clock and be young again.Im definitely jealous of the talent. I hope to one day be able to drive a car as good as he can. Popularity? Yea, clearly ive tried to be the most popular driver over the last few years. Wait you said what about MJ? Never mind, you’re an idiot lol.”

Hamlin then proceeded to get into a conversation about the points table with the same fan who commented on his post about him being jealous. The fan had reacted to a video of Zane Smith with the points table, and some mean words, and Hamlin simply asked why the standings didn’t come as replies on his post. 

Thankfully, Hamlin’s clip had a few supporters at least. One fan wrote that he felt Hamlin was just giving advice, which should be what senior drivers do for younger drivers coming in. Hamlin simply replied with a 100 emoji.
