NASCAR driver could quit the sport as he announces new motorsport gig

At just 25, former O'Reilly and part-time ARCA driver Ryan Vargas has already raced across multiple levels of NASCAR in his professional career. But now, he is set to finally chase what he calls a lifelong dream.

Away from NASCAR, the Maples Motorsports driver has reportedly announced that he will drive in the Power Rush Monster Jam truck next season.

"I’m beyond excited to share that I’ll be driving the brand-new Power Rush Monster Jam truck next season!" Vargas wrote on X.

However, the Californian did not reveal if he would be leaving ARCA Menards entirely to focus on Monster Jam. But the new series is definitely something he really wanted to take part in.

"This is truly a dream come true. Ever since I can remember, I’ve dreamed of becoming a Monster Jam driver, and now that dream is a reality," Vargas further added.

Monster Jam is the premier touring monster truck Motorsports series owned by Feld Entertainment. It features a 1500-horsepower, 12000-pound high-octane racing competition, showcasing iconic trucks such as Grave Digger, Megalodon, and Max-D.

Vargas will join Monster Jam next year under full-time obligation and drive the brand-new Power Rush truck. The 25-year-old driver already has a history of racing in this series and made his debut in October last year.

He drove the legendary El Toro Loco and won the event championship in just his second show. He continued racing in the series in 2026 under part-time obligation, filled in for Blake Granger, and drove the Monster Mutt Dalmatian.

Ryan Vargas received prestigious Monster Jam award

On the verge of his full-time switch to Monster Jam from the ARCA Menards Series, he won the Viral Moment of the Year award at the Monster Jam World Finals XXV recently. Sharing the update from his official Instagram account, he wrote,

"MONSTER JAM MOST VIRAL MOMENT WINNER! So honored to have been in the running for this & see how social media truly has helped grow my platform in Motorsports. Thank you, Monster Jam fans! Let’s GOOOO!!"

Vargas has seven Truck and 69 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series races under his belt, with two Top 10s. In 2026, he drove in eight races for Maple Motorsports, where he picked up four top 10s.
