NASCAR Executive Drops Cryptic 2027 Schedule Hint
The NASCAR calendar remained unchanged for several seasons until 2026, when they made changes to the playoff format ahead of 2026. But now, with the anticipation of each new calendar, come expectations of something being different.
NASCAR will be racing at a Naval Base for the first time this season when the grid travels to Coronado Naval Base in San Diego. They have been moving in a direction and doing things that come out of the expected since 2021.
“If you think about the last five years, we’ve run a race inthe Coliseum, tore up a football field, and raced inside LA Coliseum, talked earlier about the first international event that we ran at Mexico City since 1958, ran out first steet crouse ever in Chigaco in 2023," said NASCAR’s EVP and Chief Media and Revenue Officer, Brian Herbst on the April 9th episode of the Future of Fandom podcast.
“We’ll have another new bell and whistle, I’m sure in 2027," he further added about 2027.
NASCAR has been upping its game since 2021. In that year, they introduced Circuit of the Americas, Nashville Super Speedway, and Bristol’s dirt track. The 2022 season came up with the World Wide Technology Raceway. Then, the first street course in Chicago dropped in 2023.
Given their trend, NASCAR has some plans for 2027, too. While there is nothing confirmed yet, there are multiple rumours. Going by the buzz, the NASCAR might end up moving the clash to Daytona. It's more likely to be so since they have yet to announce the 2027 schedule.
Another rumor hints at a NASCAR race in Montreal. Some also suggest the return of the Fairgrounds in Nashville, although the future of that particular track currently looks bleak. There may, however, be some math around which circuit gets dropped.
The timeline seems to match the planned renovations of Talladega. If NASCAR were to look at a race to replace, next season, the fans may not get to see a Talladega race.
Major Changes for Championship Finals from 2027
NASCAR’s managing director of communications, Mike Forde, had already dropped hints at Hauler Talk before the season began.
“The plan would be to have the season finale again at Homestead in 2027, and then we’ll see what the rotation looks like," he said.
Homestead-Miami Speedway returns as the venue for this season’s “Super Bowl feel” event. But there are talks about that venue becoming rotational, to carry the finale effect from circuit to circuit every year.
Tracks like Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Atlanta Motor Speedway have all been discussed as possible venues.
In NASCAR, every added race sets off a domino effect. Either the calendar gets reworked, or another track loses its slot. No wonder schedule talk fires up the fanbase.
What do you think is going to be NASCAR’s new “Bell and Whistle” for 2027? Let us know in the comments.
