NASCAR fans divided as young upstart labeled the new Tony Stewart
Carson Hocevar is known for his aggressive driving style and unapologetic behavior. And because of this, he was often compared to the great Dale Earnhardt and, at times, to other drivers. While a section of fans like his attitude, others don't, as they shared reactions to him being compared to Tony Stewart.
Recently, racing expert Chase Holden quote-tweeted a post on X, where Joey Logano complained about Hocevar having a leeway for his on-track actions every time. The Team Penske driver thought that the Spire man "gets away" with his on-track stunts, something that Logano himself could never enjoy.
However, Holden responded to Logano and brought Tony Stewart into the equation and wrote, "That’s because we don’t have a true Tony Stewart to check other drivers anymore."

Holden's point is that today's Cup Series lacks a veteran like Stewart who would police the aggressive driving in the way he once did.
Stewart was known for his exceptional driving, but also for his aggression. The former NASCAR and IndyCar champion, nicknamed Smoke, used a hard-charging method to gain an advantage on track.
Off the track, Stewart was equally dominant, fiery spoken and very blunt with his words. As a result, a driver needed to have an enormous stronghold before he could tackle Stewart and get away with it.
And this is where Carson Hocevar comes in. The Spire Motorsports driver also has an unapologetic, fiery spoken attitude, and has often used this behaviour to gain traction on track. This is where he becomes a perfect match for Tony Stewart, just a generation apart.
NASCAR fans react as Tony Stewart-Carson Hocevar comparison brought in
A fan shared his thoughts on Denny Hamlin for the same reason: "Denny has a history of doing it but he’s gonna be gone soon."
Hamlin has been involved in many feuds with drivers like Joey Logano, Ross Chastain, and Chase Elliott, and has never shied away from racing aggressively when the situation demanded it.
"This type of comment just cracks me up. It is almost like folks have not watched races from the 70's, 80's or 90's. I know you have, which is why this is so odd," wrote another fan.
The fan is reminding others that NASCAR's earlier times had a lot of this driving that involved legends such as Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip, Cale Yarborough, and Rusty Wallace.
"I have wondered many times how Smoke would have handled this kid," wrote another fan, on Tony Stewart's reputation.
"Remember when Robby Gordon grabbed Tony by the collar like he was a little ragdoll? Tony was scared s***less," another fan wrote, remembering the 2000 Daytona 500 event.
Another fan wrote, sharing his thoughts, "Wrong chase. It's because hocevar owns up to it and the likes of logano pretended they did nothing wrong."
With that said, Tony Stewart and Carson Hocevar cannot be compared side by side given how they raced in different eras. But suppose they were, would Stewart be the right match for Hocevar? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
