NASCAR fans react as Denny Hamlin's car hauler derails midway
Days before the Chicagoland Cup Series race, Denny Hamlin's NASCAR hauler truck was reportedly involved in an on-track incident. As per images shared online, the hauler went off-road and stood at a standstill as fans went on a trolling spree on social media.
As seen in the image, Hamlin's regular carrier, the black-and-white Progressive hauler, carries his prized No. 11 Toyota Camry XSE, which is miles away from its destination. However, Hamlin or Joe Gibbs Racing has yet to have a say on this.
Jordan Bianchi from The Athletic shared an update on the same yesterday. He wrote, "No damage to Denny Hamlin's car after the No. 11 hauler was involved in a minor mishap on its way to Chicagoland."
However, fans didn't leave a chance to drop some light-hearted comments on the situation.
Reacting to the hauler, a fan wrote, "Denny about to go on a side quest to Radiator Springs." The comment was a reference to the fictional town from the Cars movie, joking that Hamlin took a detour from his Cup Series to go there.
Another fan wrote, "So thats how you slow down the Toyotas," joking at the stellar performance Toyota drivers including Denny Hamlin have given this season so far.
"Did Austin Hill do this," wrote another fan, pointing out the aggressive nature of Hill during the races on track.
"They gonna blame this on the 77 too?" Another fan wrote, shedding light on Carson Hocevar's recent incident with Denny Hamlin at Sonoma Raceway.
Another fan wrote, "DNFs this season
Denny Hamlin - 0
Denny Hamlin's hauler - 1"
That was naturally a reference to how Hamlin has had a clean season so far with zero DNFs, something that very few drivers have been able to do so far.
That being said, it will be interesting to see how Denny Hamlin's race at the eero 400 goes on Sunday.
However, while Denny Hamlin's team faced the unfortunate hauler incident, this is not rare in NASCAR.
When NASCAR team Alpha Prime faced similar fate
Incidents around haulers in NASCAR are not rare. Most recently, the hauler that belonged to Alpha Prime Racing, co-owned by Tommy Joe Martins and Caesar Bacarella, encountered an incident.
On their way to Naval Base Coronado for the San Diego Street Course race weekend last week, one of the haulers experienced a wild incident while it was driving at speed. A tire came bouncing from the other side of the road and struck the nose of Alpha Prime's hauler.
"Just experienced our first accident of the weekend on the way to NASCAR San Diego," the team posted with complete dash cam footage of the incident on the social media site X. As a result, the hauler incurred minor damage.
