NASCAR Insider calls out fans over unjust hate against FOX Sports & Mike Joy
The debate around FOX Sports is heating up, and this time, a NASCAR Insider is actually siding with the broadcaster.
Charlie Marlow, on the Charlie Marlow Show, discussed the hate around FOX Sports, particularly after Mike Joy received backlash for his comments defending the broadcaster.
"I wish we could also just you can celebrate Prime without bashing NASCAR and Fox. And that's what ticked me off when I looked at all the comments: it wasn't just a celebration of Prime, which is great because like I said, I like Prime. I think Prime's awesome. But it became a celebration of Prime, but even more so because social media is so negative, it became a bashing of NASCAR and Fox."
FOX Sports has long been under fire from the NASCAR community. From missed battles on the track to cutting to commercials during green flag action, it has long been on fans' radar, and they have made their displeasure known.
However, that reached a new level when Mike Joy spoke to John Roberts about the changes they made to the broadcast but could not change a few things that were out of their control. Joy noted they didn't run full-screen commercials except for the local breaks, which were out of their control. Joy received backlash over the same on a clip posted on X.
That's why Marlow added, "What I'm saying is you have 3 or 4 different broadcasts, different styles, and that's cool. Like we should actually embrace that... You don't have to bash the other one. That's my point here. It just seemed like it turned into a bash fest about Fox.
FOX Sports receives backlash over abrupt end of NASCAR broadcast
In recent years, the broadcaster has received hate for multiple breaks during the race or missing out on racing action. And one such moment came during San Diego’s truck race, the Navy 250.
Just as the presenters were talking about how the NASCAR Truck Series playoffs might pan out, the broadcast was abruptly cut to a commercial.
This has been one of the major reasons why fans have compared it with the Prime broadcast.
As comparisons between the two NASCAR broadcasters continue, Charlie Marlow’s message has been simple, and that is for viewers to appreciate both without giving the other unwarranted hate.
