"Our Hearts Are Absolutely Shattered": Samantha Busch Breaks Silence with Heartfelt Message to Fans
Kyle Busch's widow, Samantha Busch, shared a soul-stirring message on Friday, her first public statement since the NASCAR icon's tragic passing on May 21. Samantha thanked fans, friends, and those strangers who lent support to her and the Busch family during such a heartbreaking period.
Busch's passing over two weeks ago was sudden. He was urgently hospitalized with a "severe illness" ahead of NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 weekend, and a few hours later, he passed away at 41. The family later revealed that it was a case of pneumonia that turned into sepsis.
The devastating news hit the NASCAR and racing community hard. Condolences, tributes, and messages of support poured in from all directions. Responding to the massive outpour of love for Kyle Busch and the family, Samantha wrote in an Instagram post:
"As a family, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you."
"The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain. Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people," Samantha added.
"There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone. From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well. Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him.
"We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful. ❤️ Samantha, Brexton & Lennix."
Kyle Busch's Son Returns to Racing Hours After Private Memorial
Kyle Busch left us as NASCAR's winningest driver, with 234 wins across the three tiers. The 234th and final win came in Dover in mid-May, as he won his 69th Truck race.
"You never know when the last one is," he said after getting out of the car. A statement that would hit hard when he was no longer with us, a week later. It was only a few days before his passing that he celebrated his son, Brexton's 11th birthday.
This week, on Tuesday, the Busch family held a private memorial to honor the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. A few hours after that, Brexton was seen practicing at Charlotte Motor Speedway ahead of the CookOut Summer Shootout, a Legend Car Series race.
While it was not confirmed whether Brexton was at the memorial, his dedication to racing shone through. His junior career has produced strong promise for a potential future in NASCAR. Moreover, Richard Childress Racing already has the No. 8 car ready for him when he is ready to go NASCAR racing.
