'Quit your whining': Ex-FOX broadcaster pins NASCAR fans' hypocrisy as he defends 23XI prodigy
Carson Hocevar has built a passionate NASCAR fanbase with his unique personal brand and aggressive racecraft, which has caused multi-car wrecks many times. However, what happens when a rival returns the aggressiveness, and Hocevar is the one being spun out?
That is what happened in the Cup race at San Diego, when eventual race winner and 23XI driver Corey Heim spun the Spire Motorsports driver while battling for the potential win on lap 65 of 70. Many Hocevar fans were unhappy with Heim's action, but they got an earful from former FOX broadcaster Kenny Wallace, who wasn't pleased with the reaction.
Wallace posted a video on his X of his usual race recap and said:
"You guys are like a d*** comedy. He can spin everybody out, but when Heim spins him out for the win, you guys cry over spilt milk. Get with it. Earnhardt would not like it. Dale Sr. would say, 'Quit your whining.'"
Wallace elaborated that, while he is a Hocevar fan himself and has often spoken highly about him on his YouTube channel, the level of hypocrisy among Hocevar fans is unacceptable. He added:
"What the h*** are you Carson Hocevar fans whining and crying about? 'Oh, Corey Heim spun Carson out'. I love Carson Hocevar, but Carson loves spinning people because he’s a b*****. 'Look at me. I’m like Dale Sr. I spin people out, and the fans love it.'"
Wallace then mimicked Hocevar, who, post-race, asked 23XI co-owner Denny Hamlin for Heim’s number. Then, he added:
"But when Carson gets spun out (mimicking Hocevar asking for Heim’s contact), you gotta be s******* me, This is hilarious."
Denny Hamlin admits Corey Heim made a mistake en route to first NASCAR win
Denny Hamlin had an interesting episode of his "Actions Detrimental" podcast away from his usual setup on Monday. And there was even a surprise appearance by Corey Heim, who video-called his 23XI boss to check in.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver, who ended the race in 14th, spoke about the Heim-Hocevar incident and had a funny story to share on the podcast. He said:
"Corey did get in the back of Carson Hocevar and spun him out. Interestingly enough, Carson Hocevar texted me right after the race, says, 'Hey, can you send me Corey’s number?'"
"I thought that’s nice, he wants to congratulate him. I had no idea that he spun him out. So sorry, Corey, I shared your number," he added.
Hamlin was then asked by his co-host what his thoughts were on the incident. Hamlin admitted:
"I mean, it looked like Corey just made a mistake there."
Mistake or not, Heim ended up with his first career NASCAR Cup win, a big confirmation that 23XI has the right driver in place to take over full-time responsibilities in 2027.
