Ross Chastain And Connor Zilisch Chase 1,101 Charlotte Miles

The Memorial weekend is mostly associated with the iconic ‘Double' race, where drivers participate in the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

However, Connor Zilisch and Ross Chastain will be attempting to cover the same number of miles with NASCAR’s version of this race, the Tripleheader.

The NASCAR Tripleheader will span across three days, covering 1101 miles. It will take place during the weekend on May 22, when the Craftsman Truck Series kicks off for the North Carolina Education Lottery 200.

During this race, Chastain will drive the No. 45 Chevrolet truck for Niece Motorsports. Meanwhile, the 2025 O’Reilly Auto Parts Series runner-up will pilot the No. 77 Chevrolet Truck for Spire Motorsports.

Both drivers will race for JR Motorsports on May 23rd, during the race at O’Reilly Auto Parts race. On May 24th, the duo will participate in the Cup Series for Trackhouse Racing.

The races are set to take place for 600,300 and 200 miles respectively. If either of the drivers completes the race, they will have completed 1,101 miles.

There is also a high possibility of the race being thrown into overtime.

There is a lot at stake for both drivers. Chastain returns as the defending Coca-Cola 600 winner, where he started the race from the back of the grid in a backup car. He won after a late overtake on William Byron.

Connor Zilisch will be racing at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the first time in the Truck Series. Before this, he had raced at the oval in the O’Reilly Series and finished in second place. Last year, he was the youngest driver to debut at the oval.

Across all three events, which include the race, qualifying, and practice, the drivers are expected to spend at least ten hours in their respective vehicles.

Connor Zilisch Reflects On The Top Five At Dover All-Star Race

The Trackhouse rookie participated in his first All-Star race at Dover Motor Speedway earlier this weekend. During the exhibition race, Zilisch started the race in fifth, but it was not smooth sailing.

The #88 team was hit with a penalty, which dropped him to the back of the grid for equipment interference. But he managed to make up places in the race.

This also marked his highest place finish in the season so far. While talking to FrontStretch, he said, “It was a really good day for Trackhouse and this 88 team. We needed a day like this, where we had contending speed. It’s been a long year, and, you know, moments of hope like this certainly feel good."

Coming off this race high, it will be interesting to see how Connor Zilisch fares at the Charlotte weekend.
