Ross Chastain Searching for NASCAR Fan Injured by Flying Car Debris at Nashville

The Cracker Barrel 400 race on May 31 saw several teams try a new setup for the race with lower downforce and higher horsepower. However, the experience turned negative for some fans after multiple brake rotors exploded.

Ross Chastain was among the many drivers with a blown brake rotor. He revealed on the Like a Farmer podcast, “My brake rotor exploded, and a kid got hit with a piece and had to go get stitches. So we’re reaching out to him now. We’re trying to find him and get hold of him, see if he's okay, and send him some stuff.”

The explosion occurred on Lap 82, and the debris flew to the grandstand. Ever since, Chastain has been looking for the injured fan. He later received word that the fan had apparently returned to watch the end of the race after getting his injuries treated.

Ross Chastain's incident was just one of the many. Just a few laps before this, his teammate Connor Zilisch suffered a similar fate. His rotor exploded as he entered turn 1, and he hit the wall.

Several fans posted on their Reddit accounts about the experience, and many reported suffering minor injuries from the debris. Most of them went to the medical tent to seek first aid.

However, this is not the only big news that has been taking over the NASCAR world this weekend.

Former Formula One Driver to Make His Debut in NASCAR

After hinting at which driver is joining their Project 91 entry, Trackhouse Racing has finally announced that the former Formula One and current WEC driver Kevin Magnussen will be joining the team.

The Danish driver will make his debut at the San Diego street course race at Naval Base Coronado. The race is scheduled to take place later this month.

While talking to the media, Magnussen praised the Trackhouse team's effort at giving drivers outside of NASCAR a chance.

“I’m incredibly excited and honored to have the opportunity to compete in NASCAR. What Justin Marks and Trackhouse have done with PROJECT91 is unique. To provide drivers from outside of the NASCAR world with a chance to compete at this level. I’m proud to have this opportunity,” Magnussen told reporter Nick DeGroot.

His father, Jan Magnussen, also drove in a Cup Series race at Sonoma in 2010. Kevin Magnussen, will be driving alongside Shane van Gisbergen, Ross Chastain, and Connor Zilisch on June 21.
