Ryan Blaney Gives Hilarious Take on What Could Solve His Radio Issues

When tensions and frustrations are high, a team's radio is the best venting space for a driver. Ryan Blaney is one of those whose radio rants are infamous as it is, where he has been pretty vocal about his frustrations and struggles with the team.

During his appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, he spoke about how venting his frustrations on the radio feels like therapy. He said, "You got to hit the button, man. You go to hit the button. It's like going to therapy. You can't do therapy looking in a mirror."

He further spoke about what can help in solving his issue of venting on the radio. “We need a dummy button, is what we need. I need a dummy button that doesn't go to anybody.

"Dale Jr. actually brought his up, I think last year or something; he's like, 'Ryan needs a button that goes to a random person that is on the team that doesn't speak, but they can hear, and they just do it.' So it's not out there in the ether,” Blaney added.

Blaney communicates via his radio so much that during a video put out by NASCAR in 2025, the drivers were asked questions about their fellow drivers. When it came to naming the driver who complains the most over the team radio, the majority of them bestowed the title upon Blaney.

However, this open communication is what makes a driver and team relationship a successful one. Blaney has also used the radio outside his car to make important announcements.

Ryan Blaney announces his contract extension via radio

The 2023 NASCAR champion broke the news of his contract extension with Team Penske while on the radio show ‘Total Motorsports Daily NASCAR.' This announcement became the first of its kind, as Team Penkse had yet to put out the official release for the same.

While talking about the extension, Blaney revealed that it was a multi-year contract. "Being loyal to the people who've given you opportunities in your life and your career is super important to me, and Roger is that guy, so I really couldn't see myself anywhere else," Blaney said.

With Penkse, the #12 driver has earned 18 Cup Series race wins and 13 pole positions. He is currently in fourth place in the drivers' championship.
