Spire Motorsports has had quite the growth in NASCAR since its establishment in 2018. On Sunday, the team achieved its biggest triumph, as Carson Hocevar steered the No. 77 Chevrolet to victory lane at Talladega. While Hocevar was the center of attention, Spire made sure to emphasize Daniel Suarez's impact on the team this year.

The team signed Suarez after parting ways with Justin Haley at the end of the 2025 Cup season. The No. 7 driver might not have won a race so far, but he has brought valuable input and experience from his last nine years in the sport.

In the post-race press conference, race winner Hocevar's crew chief spoke about the team dynamics and Suarez's contribution to their early-season success. He said, "I can’t really say enough about what Daniel Suarez has done coming into our organization as far as being a teammate, being an example, and, really, being there for all of us." 

"I think that was a piece that really elevated our program. Those guys and girls on that team, Ryan Sparks, they’re doing a great job putting a fast race car on the race track," Lambert added. 

So far, it seems like the dynamic between the three teams has been working very well. With Suarez as the experienced voice in the team, Spire's program has elevated, and Hocevar has been capitalizing on it to get results on track. 

Daniel Suarez's comeback at Talladega after the "Big One"

Daniel Suarez started the Jack Link's 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in 16th place. Unfortunately, he was one of nearly 25 drivers involved in the "Big One" on Lap 115. He picked up a significant amount of damage, causing him to make multiple pit stops.

After finishing 20th in Stage 2, an adjustment to his car in the final stage led to an eventual 12th-place finish. Post-race, Daniel Suarez said, "Overall, it was a solid day for the No. 7 Freeway Insurance Chevrolet. It wasn’t perfect, but we stayed in the mix and got through it. The last adjustment freed it up a bit, but it was still pretty tight."

"At that point, I felt like it was the only move we had to help it, so it was worth the shot, but on to Texas next week. I’m super happy for Carson (Hocevar) and the whole Spire Motorsports team—it means a lot to this organization. Congrats to him!" the #7 driver added. 

For Daniel Suarez, the 12th-place finish took his tally of Top 20 finishes to eight. It also bumped him up two places in the standings, with Joey Logano and Chase Briscoe dropping down.
