Joey Logano has now openly admitted that Team Penske still seems to be searching for answers after a continuing dismal season this year. Despite that, the three-time Cup Series champion said that the No. 22 team is not panicking, insisting on the importance of staying calm this season.

To an extent, there seems to be a respite in the team's performance with recent finishes of eighth at Charlotte, 14th at Nashville, and seventh at Michigan.

“We're not out. We're down but we are not out,” Logano said, before adding the addendum we were all waiting for: “And this team is pretty resilient. We keep grinding.”

However, this doesn’t take away from the fact that the season has been tough for Team Penske driver Logano, something that truly reflects in the standings. Logano sits 17th in points with no wins and just two top-5s after 15 races.

Furthermore, there is now concern that it could be a driver problem rather than a team or manufacturer issue, as his teammate Ryan Blaney sits third in the standings.

Reflecting on the slump, Logano explained that relying on past success is not the solution.

“It’s somewhere in between because if you rest on your past, you'll be stuck in your past because the facts are, everyone's evolving (and) everyone's getting better, so you have to keep evolving. You have to look for new ways to do things to, whether it’s processes, or the cars, whatever it may be. We got to think outside the box a little bit to find some direction.”

Despite continuing struggles, Logano banked on the relationship and friendship that he has built with crew chief Paul Wolfe, with whom he has won two of his three championships, insisting that the same brings him confidence.

“What makes it easier is the fact that we can look at each other and say, ‘Okay, we’ve both won three championships and we know how to do this.’ We know how to win. We just have to find a new way of doing it and figure out how to get there,” he said.

The contrast with Blaney seems to be hurting the driver more than ever. In fact, it gets worse if you take a look at the stats.

Through 15 races, Joey Logano's 2026 season has barely felt like that of a three-time Cup Series champion. The driver sitting 17th in the standings has a mere 329 points, no wins, just two top-five and five top-10 finishes.

Adding salt to the wound is the fact that his average finish stands at 19.9, the worst of his full-time Cup career.

The contrast with teammate Ryan Blaney is stark. Ryan Blaney sits third in points with 10 top-10s and an average finish nearly eight positions better than Logano's. Austin Cindric is also just ahead of the No. 22 driver at 16th, leaving Logano third among Penske-affiliated entries.

Add to the fact that Logano's last victory came at Texas in May 2025, making it more than a year without touching Victory Lane. The driver seems now to be banking his hopes on the crew chief who has steered him through tough times. If anything, it’s high time both Paul Wolfe and Joey Logano started working on their magic together.
