“What if You Passed?”: Wife Samantha’s Ominous Question to Kyle Busch Resurfaces
While NASCAR reels from Kyle Busch's passing, an old conversation Rowdy had with his wife is making the rounds on social media.
This was a conversation from November last year, when Samantha sat down with Ashley George on the 'Certified Oversharer' podcast. Samantha told George how the conversation started after the couple froze their embryos.
Samantha revealed, “He was like, ‘We’re done having kids.’ And I’m like, ‘But what if?' I told him the most morbid story the other day. I was like, ‘What if you passed? I would have to have another kid to be connected to you and name that child after you.’”
The decision to freeze the embryos is not surprising. After years of struggling with infertility, several IVF cycles, and miscarriages, Brexton Busch was born in 2015. Since then, Kyle and Samantha Busch have even set up the Bundle of Joy fund to help other parents.
When Kyle heard Samantha's statement, his reaction was instant, as Samantha revealed. “He was like, ‘What is wrong with you?’”
The story highlights the couple's longstanding connection to the NASCAR community. After meeting each other back in 2007, Kyle and Samantha Busch got married in 2010, had Brexton in 2015, and then Lennix in 2022.
The family battles a tough moment after Kyle Busch passed away on May 21, from severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis. He is survived by Samantha and his children, who came together at the Coca-Cola 600.
NASCAR Gathers for Kyle Busch
Samantha was joined by Kurt Busch, Kyle's brother, as well as parents, Tom and Gaye. The family walked into the infield together, where NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell paid a tribute to Rowdy.
After O'Donnell addressed the crowd, he had a message for Samantha directly.
"Samantha, I want you to know that this sport stands with you, and you and your children are NASCAR family forever. Brexton and Lennix, your dad loves you with all his heart. Everyone gathered here, everyone behind you, everyone watching on TV and all those people up in that grandstand, they are your family and we’ve got you."
In the aftermath, Richard Childress Racing has reserved the No. 8 for Brexton until he decides to take it on.
